We are starting to research our options for a new family car. Opinions on the traverse anyone?

I have one we bought in early spring. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay::yay:It has soooo much room but drives like a car. Great gas mileage!! I have been so happy with mine!! THe only small thing I don't like and it just took a little getting used to-there is a blind spot in the front window corner (hard to explain!!) It took a couple of close calls when pulling out of a parking lot to adapt.

My mom lives with me and she bought one last July and we both LOVE to drive it. The only suggestion I would make is if you have children get the one with the split middle seat. I do not have children nor do we have any little ones in the family but we have taken several "roadtrips" this summer with adults and it is sort of a pain in the rear to slide that middle seat back and forth every time someone needs to get in and out. That's the only thing my mom wishes she could change about hers otherwise she is very happy!

I looked at the Traverse and loved it, but ended up buying a Dodge Journey instead. It is the same size car, but the Journeys were much less money. I got all the features I wanted, especially all wheel drive since I live in snow country. I love my Journey!:lovestruc

We are looking at the Traverse and the GMC Acadia, basically the same vehicle. I am interested to read what others think of their Traverse. :goodvibes

my parents and sister both have a traverse. My nephews thought theirs was broken because it didn't have the DVD player grandpa's did.

My parents drive down to FL with it from MI, they love it.

My friend in TX bought one in April, fully loaded. She has made a trip to AZ, one to MI and one to GA.. She loves it and so do her kids (2 and 4 legged!)

LOVE IT!!! It's the first vehicle I've had in 10 years that I can see myself driving for more than 3 years. I've had a Ford Explorer, a Dodge Durango and 2 Grand Caravans and the Traverse beats them all hands down for ride and features. Plus my 6'3" son actually fits in the back seat of it without whining about how cramped it is.

I don't know if you are still looking for opinions on the Traverse, but, I will have had mine for 1 week on Saturday, and I love it! I am "upgrading" size-wise from a Jeep Wrangler. I love it! It drives great and the extra space is exactly what my family needed! I agree with the post that said I could see myself driving this for more than 3 years!

I love mine! :lovestruc I've had it for over a year and a half (bought Jan 09) and it still gives me a thrill to hop into it. :goodvibes

Gas mileage is consistently right around 24mpg and we love all the extra room.

We have two captains chairs in the middle instead of a bench seat, which is the only option I insisted on.

One thing I did notice with going from a car (Malibu) to the Traverse was the Traverse has a much larger turning radius.

So now I typically park two or three spots away from other cars just for the peace of mind.

It does have a couple blind spots, but that is what the blind spot mirrors are for. Learn how to use them. :)

We bought a Traverse last February, and we love it...for the first time we can load all of our four grandsons in the car and take a comfortable trip...the seats are so easy to fold up so that there is extra storage room...plus, for a big car it has great gas mileage...plus, we got a really great deal on ours...

I have an outlook (same machine)…it’s been in the shop off and on for two months. Mostly transmission problems. Notice how it is sluggish passing cars on the highway. If they do an upgrade on the transmission software to correct the problem your MPG’s drop significantly. There was also a traverse and an Acadia at the Chevy dealership that was doing the repairs on my car with the exact problem. I guess not every dealer has some special transmission tool that is needed to reassemble. I’m selling my car to Carmax and getting a Tahoe. Might as well since I get the same MPG’s as a Tahoe.

Other than routine maintenance, my Traverse has never been in the shop. :)

we're getting me one sometime before the end of the year. We've looked at them, and I like it. Going from a ford explorer to the traverse. DH wants a malibu.

So glad to hear all the positive responses here. My dad just bought one today...picking it up in the morning. It has the bench seat in the middle but I'm sure it will be okay. He is a grandpa "Poppy" that also spends TONS of time with his grandkids (5 yrs, 8 yrs & 13 yrs). He's really looking forward to his new ride :)

Got mine just over a month ago and LOVE IT. We bought a 2010 with 8240 miles on it. I would have liked the bucket seats in the middle row, but the bench seat works just fine. Kids have little problem moving it ahead if I have have 4 kids with me. THe bench is nice when I am transporting my DD and 2 of her gymnastics teammates, because all 3 fit in the second row.

I have a 2008 GMC Acadia that we bought 18 months ago. WE LOVE IT!!! I got rid of my Ford Explorer and couldn't be happier. We have three kids so two sit in the third row and one sits in the second row. We have the bench seat so we pretty much permanently keep the 60% side of the bench folded down so we can easily get to the third row. We get great gas mileage, haven't had any issues, can cram all sorts of kids / pets / groceries in the car, and it's a breeze to drive. Oh yeah, the DVD player and wireless headphones are awesome!!!

We've owned a GMC Acadia (the GMC version of the Traverse, exact same car, just a different name) for just over 2 years, and we love it just as much as the day we got it. It's so versatile, roomy, safe, reliable, and drives like a much smaller vehicle. My favorite features are the fold flat 3rd row seats and the flip and slide 2nd row seats that allow easy access to the 3rd row. It's a great car; I highly recommend it! :)

We've been looking at the Traverse also. My Father in Law has one and loves it. We have an Aztek right now which I absolutely love but with 2 kids (6&9), I want more seats so they can each bring a friend along when we go places. The Aztek only has room for 3 in the back seat. I thought we'd get the Traverse with the bench, but am leaning towards the bucket seats after reading some of these posts.
