anyone one else sick?

So my wife and I have come down with something. Not sure what just been vomiting the last few hours, have been staying hydrated and since she is a vegetarian and I am not we do not eat the same things. So I doubt its food related. Makes me wonder if a stomach bug/thing is going around. Anyone else? Honestly for everyone else's sake I hope not, this is no fun.

I don't have what they have, but, yes, as a matter of fact I am out sick today, thanks for asking.

Our last trip for our anniversary in July was ruined by illness, took me over a week after returning home (including a trip to the ER) to get over it. We're back here now as a make-up trip (thankfully we have APs) and so far no issues but I'm taking far more precautions (only filtered water, lots of hand cleansing). Hope you feel better soon, nothing worse than being sick on vacation.

It is very likely a norovirus. It is spread through fecal contamination of food/drink, through person-to-person contact, and the virus going airbone, either from sneezing, vomiting, toilet flushing, etc.

While this sounds incredibly disgusting and nasty, it is one of the most common forms of "stomach bugs" that people traditionally blame on food poisoning.

Hand sanitizer is not very effective against norovirus, but it may help to some extent.

There is a wicked 24 hour stomach virus going around here. Hope you guys get over it quickly!

Yep - mine came on right in the middle of Wednesday night's dinner (so I had to have it before then), and back home this morning in California, I'm almost back to normal. So it looks to be about a 36 hour bug. But Thursday - our last day and travel day - was a complete loss. My wife spent a couple hours at Epcot while I napped, once I was stable.

Mine was clearly the same bug as the rest of you, but affected me differently - instead of my meals traveling "north", they traveled rapidly "south" - if you catch my meaning.

Disney was also really good about letting us stay in our room until 3 pm for only a nominal charge.

After getting a "congestion and coughing" bug at the beginning of the trip, followed by the unusual rain in between, this ended up being the worst Disney trip I've ever had. Not Disney's fault at all, or anyone else's, it's just my good luck over 20+ years of visits finally catching up to me.

On the plus side, we had none of the MB/FP+ glitches that others have reported. (Don't you know, every thread must come around to MB/FP+ eventually? It's a new DISboards rule.)

Still looking forward to our January visit. Maybe I'll finally learn to be more careful about washing my hands.

Someone in our family gets sick EVERY. TIME. WE. GO. TO. DISNEY! Ugh...have now come to expect it. It doesn't stop us from going. We take Vitamin C for a few weeks before leaving and then while we are there. I pack a pharmacy with me just for this reason and without a doubt we use something! Just stinks! Hoping we avoid it next month for the first time :goodvibes We have encountered everything from pink eye to strep to just stomach bugs. Just try to get through and enjoy yourself.

We made it through our first trip in 2011 without any illness. Last year, DD4 (then 3) started to get sick as we were hitting the road to come home. Vomiting like every hour. We stopped in SC overnight, and she ended up going all through the night every hour until about 5am. DW was going to take her to an urgent care place if she didn't get any better, but she was fine from about 5am on.

DW is pumping the kids full of vitamin C this year before we leave, hoping it works since we'll be there for 10 days this year (went 7 days the last 2 years). Going to take someone else's suggestion of hand santizer after every ride too.

There must be a flu like bug going around because 4 people I know have been doing the same thing throwin up....

Yup, but no spewing involved. We went the week of Labor Day thru Sept 8. The next day I was very sore all over, but I just figured I was tired and I had a very annoying cough, but thought it was because our last 2 full days there it rained all day and we got soaked.

NOPE! Finally went to the doctor after a couple of days of everything hurting, had strain A of the flu. Ended up giving it to my daughter, too (she didn't go with us). Took 2 full weeks to get back to normal, but still having nagging cough.

This is the first, and hopefully last time I've gotten sick after returning home from Disney. I was telling everyone it was the Brazilian tour group flu (we saw tour groups at Universal on our last day)

Just wanted to say thank you for all the well wishes. Feeling better, not right but better. Going to suck it up and go to a park, even if just to walk around and get out of the room.

Glad you're coming out of it.

Might be a good day to park yourself on a bench in World Showcase and people watch.

I have had the stomach bug twice while at WDW, and a few more times the day after I got home from Disney. One year I used the hand sanitizers very faithfully, sometimes needlessly, and that was the year I didn't get sick at all.
