Before I get 10 million,"what is a prolonged QT", it is a heart condition that can produce fainting?
My 10 y/o was Dx with that and I was wondering if anyone has that and still goes on rides. I suppose the thrill rides are out of the question.

Long QT? No, but given its status, yes, I would say thrill rides - ANYTHING with a warning - would be out of the question.

But, respectfully - why ask us when you should be asking your son's physician? I know you want actual experiences, but in a potentially life-threatening situation, I'd want the doctor's take.

Have you asked her cardiologist? They should be able to tell you whether the scarier rides are Ok or not.

I dont have prolonged QT but I have IST (inappropriate sinus tachycardia).
It can produce fainting if i stay in tachycardia too long. My cardiologist said that she recommends that someone with any heart condition that can cause fainting to avoid any and all thrill rides.

She said it can be mroe the type of thrill ride though.
I avoid all rollercoasters (BTMRR, Space Mountain, EE and RR) as well as splash mountain (the drop induces my condition), tea cups, and tower of terror. I can ride kali river rapids which is not okay for some people.

I agree with the PP that you need to talk to the cardiologist. I mean, you can get advice and personal experience here but everyone is different. only his cardiologist can tell you exactly what to do. (if the cardiologist does not have experience with disney, get a disney book with the ride descriptions. thats what i did with my cardiollogist b/c he did it on a ride to ride basis depending on the description)

Both of my younger sisters have been diagnosed with this! my youngest also has Spina Biffida so she didn't ride any thrill rides other than the tea cups in the MK.:goodvibes

My middle sister who has a much more profound case got very tired just being in Disney and thrill rides were out of the question. Good luck! I hope that you're able to enjoy the rest of the aspects of the parks. The beautiful thing is that there are so many other fun rides and great shows that I'll bet you hardly miss the coasters.

actually, she does NOT have prolonged QT....we saw a cardilogoist at CHOP and her EKG was normal an all other tests were, too.
She does have vasovagel and needs to drink plenty of water and when she gets tired, just take a rest.

I have prolonged Qt and I still go on everything. I only ride it once though because I usually do feel light headed and faint after. The only ride I stay away from is Mission:SPACE.

Mission: SPACE is a must do for us....
The calmer of the 2, though.
The one time my dd is pass out, was standing....in line for the safari.
Standing seems to be a trigger for her faintness.
