- Is there really no on-demand tv/movies in the staterooms?
- Can someone confirm that there is no lights on the ceiling when the bunk beds come down?
- Anything else that we are going to miss from the Dream/Fantasy that's not aboard the Magic (so we can prepare the kids?)?

Thank you! We are excited about our upcoming cruise, but a little nervous about being on the Magic after so many trips on the Fantasy.

Yes to both those - no on-demand movies, and no lights in the ceilings.

I haven't travelled on the larger ship, so can't tell you what else is missing, except that the game people talk about isn't there. (Sorry, 4 hours sleep is giving me a blank on the name - midship detective agency?). Oh, and no mini golf either.

There's no on demand movies/tv, but there are multiple channels of Disney and Pixar movies plus a channel that shows Disney junior shows and the regular Disney channel shows. Your kids won't miss tv, trust me. Mine watched plenty. You just have to catch whatever is on rather than watching a specific thing.

Things you'll miss out on when onboard the Magic:

- Gobs more people
- Feeling like you have to walk a mile if you forget something in your stateroom
- Clogged elevators
- Having to go up an insane number of stairs if you decide not to take the elevator to Cabanas

I'm sure there are more things. We're huge fans of the Magic and enjoyed it much much more than the Dream. You won't even miss a thing. There is SO much to do on board and it feels so much more comfortable, smaller, intimate and fewer people, you may never feel the need to be onboard one of those big behemoths again!

All ships have Palo, but Remy is only on the Dream and Fantasy.
Magic has Aquadunk instead of the Aquaduck
No sports simulator or minigolf on the Magic.

You'll also miss out on a more crowded Castaway Cay.

I agree 100%!!:thumbsup2
Bigger isn't better.

You will also "miss" having to stick your room key (or some other card) into the slot for the lights to work. You will miss having to walk through the aft pool deck's buffet restaurant (Topsiders/Cabanas) in order to get from the aft elevators to the pool area.

I absolutely love the smaller ships and the fact that they sail with almost 1/2 the number of passengers compared to the newer ships. 2400 vs. 4000!

We'll be sailing the Fantasy this summer only because the Magic & Wonder will be too far from home. I'm looking forward to it but not the same as if I were sailing the Magic. She will always be our favorite. :lovestruc:cloud9:

We are getting ready for our 10th sailing on the Magic in a week. Included are four transatlantic cruises. We are in love with the Magic and most likely will never sail on another ship.

Thank you to everyone who answered my questions. Everyone's situation is different, so while I appreciate the comments that responded as not "missing out", I have a special needs daughter who likes consistency and I'm preparing her for the differences. In case one of us has to go back to the room with her if she has a panic attack or needs some downtown, yes, we do like to watch tv.

We are very much looking forward to experiencing the Magic and I can't wait for our cruise. :)

Both times we cruised and went to CC we enjoyed getting back on board, putting on a Disney movie and relaxing with an "All Hands on Deck" platter while we took turns showering. I was worried about the lack of on demand options on the Magic as well, but there were so many channels, all showing Disney related stuff, we had no trouble finding something we all agreed on.

The Magic is my fav ship! I've been on all 4 ships and I much prefer the smaller ships.
Their are tons of shows, movies for you child to watch. Each night my family and I lay in bed and watch a movie after a busy day!
I really enjoy the "less crowded feel" then the Dream and Fantasy.
The Animators Palate doesn't have the talking turtle (crush) or anything like that, but it's still a very neat restaurant. Don't miss AP on your last rotation because they put on a really neat show (if you're more then 4 nights)
I actually prefer the kids pool on the Magic and the slide is way better (if your daughter likes that kind of thing)
They also have a pretty neat kids splash area as well.
The elevators are smaller, one thing I definitely noticed! But no biggie for me because I rarely take them, but could be for someone else.
Avoid the midship ones at busy times and go aft or forward if you can. You won't wait nearly as long, although the midship elevators are bigger then the aft/forward ones.
The rooms are very similar to the Dream/Fantasy, but they do not have lights above the pull down beds. I always bring a night light you can actually stick onto the wall. It comes off no problem when you're finished with it.
You will most definitely notice the atrium is much smaller.
I can think of many other things, but nothing significant enough that would effect your daughter.
You will love the Magic! The ship is beautiful and the crew are fabulous!!!

**** I didn't mean to quote anricat..lol

That's a great idea about the stick on nightlight! Thank you very much!

Actually, the rooms are larger on the Magic than the Dream/Fantasy for comparable cabins.

Also, the Magic has a shawarma station next to the grill by the pool...
