Anyone make their own beer

I thought this might be a novel idea for DH Christmas but not sure if it is worth it - if the beer tastes good!!!! He is more a beer drinker than a lager drinker and has been tasting a lot of the specialty beers lately!!!

Any feedback would be great - dont want to waste my money

You are welcome anytime - may just buy him the beer though as I have bad memories of m mum making banana wine in the 80s and dont want to go there again !!!!!

We have made our own in the past it's MUCH cheaper than buying it in a supermarket by the can once you spend the initial outlay for all of the kit and so satisfying too. A great brewing shop will be able to help if you have any difficulties the one close to us is great it's called The Hop and Grape and they can always suggest answers to any brewing issues we have had in the past like how to reactivate the initial brew when it's got too cold for the yeast to work ( warm it in a bath of warm water and wrap in a duvet) or add something to reduce cloudiness things like that are priceless. It's a very lovely hobby and you never run out of beer/ lager or wine depending on what you want to brew. I would say make sure you have a nice warm location to let your stuff work it's magic and you'll be fine and if you get some now it can be ready in time for New Year
