I want to make t-shirts/sweatshirts for our upcoming trip and I am SURE there are some people here that have done so in the past. Please pass on your expertise, re: finding images, proccess, etc. I know I could buy them through the Disney Store but they are so dang expensive.

Also, I don't want to start a debate here, so please don't flame me, but has anyone here that made their own shirts been hassled by Disney, when wearing such copyright infringement "homemade" items.

Thanks,
Paula

I have never made t-shirts, but if I find Disney shirts on sale I buy 1 for each person in my family, and save them for our trip! It is fun to see the looks we get from other people!!! ( we always have at least 6 ppl in our group, sometimes up tp 12!). I can't help you with the how-to's, but I know that Disney will not care what you are wearing, as long as it is not pornographic in nature!!! I have even seen people wearing shirts from other theme parks w/o any hassles...after all, this is america, and we are free people! I do know that the CM's will notice your group if you are wearing "themed" t-shirts!!!! HAVE FUN!!:sunny:

I made a birthday shirt for DS as we were at WDW on his actual B-day in Aug. I had bought a Pluto t-shirt from the disney store (his fav. character) and on the back using markers for fabric, wrote: Today is my birthday and I'M AT DISNEY! COOL! I copied the" disney "to look just as they letter it, and for the word cool, I made the 2 O's in the outline shape of Mickeys head. No one gave us a hard time at all, as a matter of fact the CM's were most gracious about wishing him a happy day, and also took the time to ask DD if she was having a good time as well. You could tell the writing was done by hand....I think the CM'S are jsut happy we are there...and glad that someone would like to enjoy their trip in disney attire, store bought or not! Remember that a LOT of retailers carry Disney items, not just TDS. I always wonder what USO thinks of all the Mickey clothing on people in their parks.;) Enjoy your trip and have fun making the shirts!

oh no! I never thought about copyrighting---I made red jackets with Mickey icons wearing Santa hats for us to wear to the MVMCP on 12/2, so if you see 3 adults and 2 kids wearing these(DH doesn't want one--LOL) it's us!!!!

A couple of years ago I made shirts with different Icons I downloaded from web sites.I printed them on transfer paper and ironed them on. I even had comments from securty checking bags about them being cute.

I painted my DH, Joe, a Franken Goofy t-shirt for our Halloween trip last month. He wanted me to paint MNSSHP 2003 on it which I did.He wore it to the MK the night of MNSSHP and nobody hassled him,in fact he had a few people ask him where he got it!

As long as you're not selling merchandise with copyrighted icons or characters you're okay!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I thought the shirts in the Disney catalog that are available for personalizing were OK in price. They weren't cheap, but they weren't horrible. I bought our family of six matching t-shirts, personalized.

We also bought the Disney transfers from Office Depot to personalize and design on computer then print out and iron onto a t-shirt of your choice. That way, the copyright thing isn't an issue either.

Making our family's t-shirts are one of my favorite things to do to get into the Disney mood. Our first few trips we settled for matching t-shirts from Disneystore.Of course bought when they were down to $10 - $12.Then the next trip I took the stencil of Cinderella(the BIG one for walls)I painted that on the front of all the girls. The guys I did same thing with Mickey. The Cinderella ones were great.A few Cinderella fans stopped me and actually offered money for it.This past August we went with another family 10 in all.I took red t-shirts and made black ears and used heat and bond to put on the front of the shirt. My DH has nice handwriting and in gold paint wrote the person's name on it.We got alot of comments.Especially from CMs.Now I'm in the planning stages for our MVMCP sweatshirts.I was thinking of "heat and bond half of a Santa's hat on the back and add ears. Then on the front little stockings with all our names on them.Believe me I am not talented, but when you start doing t-shirts for your trip you become "possesed".Have fun with creating your shirts.
