DH is looking at a possible job in Springfield MO and we need information! He has worked at DFA before but during that time(about 6 months) he commuted from STL. This time we are considering a move. We both love the Kimberling City area (my mom and dad have a condo there) but would want a house in the Springfied area. Maybe Nixa? What are the schools like? Both kids are currently in Catholic School and we would prefer to continue with that. I know there are at least 3 grade schools and 1 high school but are they good? Can we even get into them or are they full? Please tell me EVERYTHING both good and bad, so we can make as informed decision as possible! Thanks much!!!!!

Ds asked me to add is there a hockey program? He says he is NOT going unless there is! Yea He's 12!

I don't know very much, sorry. I have been there alot, but as far as schools I couldn't tell you. It is the biggest city in a fifty mile radius. They have an over abundance of Chinese food and they have Lamberts! Throwed rolls on a weekly basis would be heaven!

DD's best friend moved to the Springfield area a couple of years ago. We were passing though and met up with the family at Lambert's this summer. They live in Nixa...considered the best schools, but with that said, the mom said that the quality of education was lower than what they had at our district. But the trade off: Over the summer, her DD's future 6th grade teacher came by and spent about an hour with them at their house...nice small town touch. DD slept over at their house and said it was "huge," so I think you can get a lot of house for the money there. The mom misses shopping and culture (they aren't really the Branson type.)

Thanks both of you! We have a boat on the lake already and know we love to be at the lake. I think I would also miss the shopping, shows, etc. I know the boys will miss the sporting events. We often have season tickets to hockey and always go to several baseball games. It is pretty small town, but that is not always bad just different. This is such a big decision, we will think about it for a couple months at least.:teeth:

Thought of another question. Did your friend's family feel accepted in the new community? Often newcomers in a small town are kept outside of the circle. Thanks!
