Anyone live in Japan?

While we lived in Japan back in 1992, we attended several outdoor festivals where a rice drink was served. It was thick, non-alchoholic, and served warm. I'm quite sure it was made out of rice. Does anyone know what the Japanese name for this drink is? I'm having a Japanese dinner party and would love to serve this.
