hi i have read several bad reveiws of the dinner buffet at hollywood and vine, but has anyone enjoyed it? i tried doing a search but it's not working:surfweb: also for anyone who has ate at both hollywood and vine and chef mickey's dinner--how would you compare the two...thanks in advance for your response

We ate breakfast there which is a character meal. The character interaction was great and I preferred it to Breakfasauras. The food was fine and service was good. I too had heard the bad reviews but we would go again, maybe try lunch which is also a character meal!

Chef Mickey's just seems more organized. Good character interaction and good food. H & V just seems crazy, cramped and picked through.

My 2 cents.

We had dinner there with for the Fantasmic Dinner package on Labor Day. We enjoyed our meal and service. Not the best food we had at Disney, but good. We aren't likely to rush back, more due to trying other places and been there done that for Fantasmic, than anything they did or did not do. I must mention I wasn't wowed by the dessert selection, but they had soft serve and our waitress brought us plenty of orange soda...yummy orange floats!

We did Chef Mickey's for breakfast and our 6yo loved it. We plan to go for dinner on this Labor Day trip.

We did the Fanstamic dinner package there over spring break this past year. The food was just okay. We ate at Crystal Palace the day before, so my kids were expecting it to stack up to that (just didn't happen). It was basically your average off-site average buffet. As far as the service, ours was hideous!!! The server/CM was SLOW. It was hot out that day & we were all thirsty. It took forever to get her to get us refills. She didn't get a very nice tip.

On the other hand, my BF & her family went in July & I told her not to eat there. They LOVED it!!!

Go figure.

It's average, not bad, just average... If it wasn't for the Fantasmic package, we'd probably not return.

We loved breakfast and lunch there. We did the fantasmic dinner package and honestly we did NOT like the dinner at all. Chef Mickey's is WAY better.

We did the fantasmic package in June. I swear that was our best meal out of everything at Disney. They had this seafood pasta dish that I bragged about back home lol- it was the best thing I've ever had, I wish I had that recipe. Everything else was really hot & fresh. I'm guessing maybe each restaurant has their off days though. haha but we're all poor college students so we'll eat anything that involves a buffet! :rotfl2:

Aloha,

Last December we enjoyed an outstanding dinner at Hollywood and Vine. Good food, great service and nice atmosphere. Strongly recommend it!

We visited H&V during our August trip with Fantasmic dinner package. We had the first seating for dinner so everything was spotlessly clean, buffet was super fresh, and wait staff was very attentive.

It was a very good meal and I would go back (and I usually avoid buffet meals like the plague--my parents talked me into going). It is not Brown Derby or Flying Fish good, but the variety of food choices, especially the green mussels, was excellent and very edible.

We ate at H&V last May for the Fantasmic dinner package. It was the worst buffet we had at Disney. The service was pretty good, but the food wasn't. It wasn't horrible food, just not very good. It was a very loud restaurant too!

It doesn't even compare to Chef Mickey's! We like to try new restaurants each trip, but we loved Chef Mickey's so much that we are returning this May!

thanks everyone...i'm really up on the fence with this one...we have already done chef mickeys and really enjoyed it. we wanted to try something new and also take advatage of the fantasmic dinner package--and just figured a buffet would be the best choice for our different group. it just seems like so many people really don't like this place:scared1:

H&V generally gets terrible reviews on this board but I am always one to defend it. It's honestly our favorite! We have always had wonderful service with great servers, the food is hot and delish (don't get me started on the meatballs!!!!!), and l can't express how much we love H&V.

The great things about message boards is that everyone has their own opinion. I do take everyone's consideration into our planning but for H&V, I'm glad I didn't listen to the majority. :)

thanks sandybobandy--i do think we are going to give it a try==what the worst that could happen:scared:

I'm not a big fan of dining at MGM, but we think Hollywood and Vine for dinner is good. We haven't eaten there since last year.

The first time we ate at H&V we were not pleased. However, due to the F! dinner package, we tried it again. The 2nd and 3rd trips there were excellent. The food was really good and we were thoroughly impressed. This year, it was good, but not fantastic - but that was due to the food rotations, and our favorite items were not on the buffet that day. You have to remember it is a buffet, and the food does change. Some nights it may be fantastic to you, and not to someone else.

I'm with you - have never tried it, and have read the poor reviews, but want to do the Fantasmic Package so we are going to see how it goes. Good luck!
