Just found the answer on page 6 of this forum. Someone else had asked the same question.

and if you are wanting a haircut, i would recommend getting there early! we did not and my husband did not get a haircut. good luck:tongue:

I would agree on that point, most of the day the wait is at least 5-6 people deep. Also beware but it typically closes before the park does.

Through my entire trip I wondered where the barber shop was. I think it was our last day, we were leaving the Magic Kingdom and I finally found it, didn't realize it was around the corner from the main drag of mainstreet.

They do such a great job!!!!!!!!! They give you mouse ears!!!!! a certificate and a lock of hair!!!!!!!! It was great!!!!!! There were also older kids in the shop getting their hair styled with "pixie dust" I believe--what a great Barber Shop!!!!!!!!!!

We had one of our best memories at the barber shop, I asked my son who was 12 at the time, but very tall so looks older, if he would humor me and get a haircut at the barber shop. Now DS knowing that the key to a great vacation is to keep Mom happy so she will continue to throw $ at the pin carts for him, says sure Mom.:teeth: When we got there a guy and a little boy were in the chairs, they get done and they do the sticker thing and throw a little pixie dust on the little boy and it's all low key and nice but not what I was expecting. So I'm talking w/ the Mom and she says this is his 1st "official" haircut, and I tell her I'm getting my baby boys hair cut too. Which garnered a polite laugh. So they leave and DS gets in the chair and is chatting w/ the Lady stylist telling her a basic cut no gel or any thing. Then the Quartet comes in and she put this red & white cape w/ ::MickeyMo on DS, the quartet starts singing, she pulls out the really big red plastic sissors, everyone is throwing pixie dust every where, and it turns into this big party, with people running in from the street to see whats going on. My 2 DDs are dancing. the guys are singing and I'm thinking this is it, our dose of the "magic". I still bawl like a baby when watching the video. :goodvibes

PS: she gelled and spiked his hair, and he was picking pixie dust out of his hair for days!

If you let it.................... the Magic will happen!

Could not agree more, the barber shoppe is the best and provided one of our best memories last year as well. We did get there early and did not need to wait long. My DS, age 5 at the time, got his hair cut, spiked with Buzz Lightyear Blue gel and pixie dusted. The reactions and comments about his hair lasted for 3 days. When we saw Mickey, he made a big deal of it and when Stitch saw him, well it was the best!! By the time we saw Stitch, the spikes had gone down, but the blue was still there, so Stitch started spritzing his hair and spiking it up again, it was a whole show for everyone with my DS as one of the main characters!! My son will never forget that and everytime he gets a haircut he asked to get it spiked with colored gel. I am hoping to get another one when we go in a few weeks. A very good time.

Having my 4yo son's hair cut at the barbershop was also a highlight for us. He had it spiked with purple hair gel and lots of pixie dust. He got probably a hundred comments/questions from people the rest of the day and he loved being the center of attention. We got there in the mid afternoon and didn't have to wait long, but this was the slow season (not that it's really ever slow at MK) so I'm sure the wait gets long when the park is packed.

If you go for EMH is the barbershop open early?

Also, where exactly is it as you are coming into the MK?

Bump-I'd like to know too! Been to WDW 6 or 7 times and have never seen it!

It's on the left just past the restroom when you are entering the park, next to the fire station shop.

I heard that it opens at 9am every day, but don't know if it opens early on the EE day. I was there on an EE day, but wanted to do the rides instead. I figured that I would rather wait later in the day for a haircut, where there are some chairs, than in the busy ride lines. I knew that I'd be ready for a rest in the early afternoon, but there was maybe a 15 minute wait for the haircut--just a couple of people ahead of us.

9am - 5pm.

$12 for kids, $15 for adults. They do girls and boys, just cuts... no shampoo/drying.

My DS love this. The last time, the woman cutting his hair colored it with 2 colors, spiked and pixie dusted, then proceeded to put a mickey sparkle on his nose. It was hilarious.

I had only one DS hair cut but my younger DS wanted his hair colored so she colored his hair too for no extra charge.

Both of them got so many complements, it just really made their day. (actually days). The last time, the Dapper Dans even came in for a performance. It was awesome.

DH just had his hair cut there yesterday.
I would go in at park opening, or during the parade.
We ate breakfast first and returned. While DH waited, I got FP for Space Mountain, and later for Buzz, and wandered around.
He waited at least 45 minutes.
We were walking out of MK just before the parade and we did not see anyone back there.
They accept cash or credit/debit cards. But not room cards.
And the DD were there at the end of DH's haircut too. :)

I think that they do braiding and geling for girls so it isn't just the guys who can have a great time!

I'm thinking that my husband and I should give this a try -- something I've always wanted to do!
