Anyone know when to call for a Jan 29 06 ressie?

This will be my first time making a ressie. I'm going to call with an 11 mo window for a Jan 29 ressie. I know typically I would call Feb 30, but since there is no such date, do I call Mar 1? Thanks!

I guess they could say you should call March 2 to make it 2 days after Feb. 28, but I would call March 1!

Caskbill's DVC Vacation Planner suggests Mon. 28 FEB 05 as the 11 month date for 29 JAN 06. What's the worst they can say? "Call tomorrow."

You can call Feb 28th.

When there is no equivalent date in the month you will be calling in to the month of the reservation, then you may call on the last day of the month.

In previous posts, I've quoted the actual statement that DVC published, but don't have it handy right now.

Basically if your checkout date is the 31st of some month, and the 11 month window falls in a month with only 30 days, then you would call on the 30th of that month.

For Jan 31st, or Jan 30th, or Jan 29th check out days, you call the preceeding Feb 28th (Or Feb 29th in a leap year)

Many mistakenly think you have to wait until the 1st of the next month to call, but that's not correct.

What I have found in the past is that their written rule does not apply to the February situation. When I called for a reservation ending Jan. 31 or some such date I was told I would have to call on March 3rd or something like that. It was rather bizarre because I would have thought I could at least make the reservation March 1st, if not Feb. 28th.

I made several calls in the interrim days to be sure I wasn't given bad information (I needed a BWV standard view and wanted to be sure I got my reservation...I think it was my first one)...but the system wouldn't let them put the reservation in until a few days into March.

I think the actual day I was allowed to make the reservation corresponded to the day it would have been if January only had 28 days...for example, if Jan. only had 28 days a reservation that would end on the 31st in the real world would end on Feb. 3rd in the "28 day month" world....so the reservation could be made on March 3rd. Weird, I know.

Does anyone else here remember this happening? I know I wasn't the only one at the time.

Interesting, especially since the 'written rule' specifically uses February as the example.

I quote......

"The following table shows when Members may begin making reservations at their Home Resort and at other DVC Resorts."

Then a table followed showing the 11-month and 7-month calendar months for each of the regular 12 calendar months. Beneath the table is this statement:

"The 'corresponding date' is the date of check out for the desired reservation; if check out is to occur on June 25th, then the corresponding date is the 25th. If there are no dates that correspond directly to the reservation check out date, then the last day of the month is when reservations may be requested. For example, a Member who wishes to check out on January 31, yyyy may request that reservation on February 28, xxxx."

If they're making you wait until March then they are specifically not following their own published statement.

If anyone calls on the 28th, I'd be interested in what they tell you.
