Of course we are set to arrive in Orlando on Sunday at noon, Hurricane time. Anyone gone down in iffy weather? What was it like? At what point if any did they close? Any info that would stop my mind from racing would be great! Thanks!

Cannot be predicted. Each airline may make its own judgment on when to cancel flights. The flight trajectories span a large rectangular area perhaps 30 miles across, about the airport (For Orlando more to the north and south, less to the east and west) and when winds are too strong along these paths, flights have to cease operating.

What I have done in the past is watch the home page of my airline. They will normally allow you to reschedule for a day earlier if they have seats and think they are going to stop flights. I checked the DL webpage earlier today and they have nothing posted yet so....
Another source might be www.fllyertalk.com, but I am not sure they post a lot on weather cancellations there.

If you think your flight will be cancelled due to a storm, show up at the airport for an earlier flight if you are able and wish to. (Don't pay extra for the privilege.)

The last thing the airline wants is to fly the earlier flights out with seats empty and then have difficulty re-accommodating people whose flights were cancelled.

Hard to know what to do. I would take an earlier flight but we have the 9am flight on sunday. If I did the earlier flight it would be Sat evening and that is when the storm is hitting or so they say. Tough call. :confused3

Well, I would call first and see if there are any empty seats. Otherwise you may just sit around waiting.

Also, if you are trying to fly a day early and the airline has not cancelled your flights yet, you may not get far.

This is on the USAirways site so I would imagine other airlines will be doing the same thing. Orlando isn't mentioned yet so keep watching your airline website.

Before heading to the airport I would call the airlines 800 number and make arrangements for new flights before you go to the airport.

You should always have the phone number of your airline programmed into your cell phone when traveling.
