With only 4 days to go, thought I'd check out the current departure times for our flight.

Was I in for a shock :scared1:

Our flight VS027 is scheduled to leave at 10:45 but looks like it hasnt left before 1pm so far this week!!

Anyone have any idea why or if this is likely to go back to normal before friday?

Otherwise i'll just have to try and amuse myself for 3 extra hours in the duty free shops.... :rolleyes1

Hi,
Sorry I can't help you with a reason but I kept a spreadsheet of departure times for VS015 and VS028 for a 10 day period last month and sent the details to VA for their comments. Sadly they failed to reply on two occasions. I have always been a big fan of VA but recently they seem to be making it more difficult to remain so. Here's a copy of the email sent:
Hi,
My partner and myself are Flying Club silver members and we fly to Orlando Florida at least twice a year. I have been checking the punctuality of your services over the last ten days and I have to say I am not impressed. The VS015 has averaged a delay of almost 95 minutes per day (worst delay was 3hours 27mins. on 30/03/07) whilst the VS027 has averaged almost 65 minutes per day (worst delay was 3 hours 7 mins. on 30/03/07)
Could you tel me if you think these delays are acceptable for a schedule service and if not how you plan to improve the punctuality.

Mick.

Don't forget that the Easter holidays will have a big impact on departure times, more aircraft, lose you take off spot, be put back to the end of the queue, passengers late to the aircraft, bags Vs passengers mis match, late delivery of food/catering, late delivery of fuel bowsers, passenger ill on flight, small maintenance problem etc etc,
which then effect arrival and then effect departure times, its a cycle that is hard to break.

You need a certain amount of time to prepare the aircraft for the return flight, and a delay on the inbound will hit this.

Some airlines use the day they do not fly the route to catch up, VS fly the route 7 days a week, so is harder to catch up.

Just been watching the WESH 2 morning news and it seems the storm which blew through Orlando yesterday as well as blowing roofs off, delayed or cancelled numerous flights from OIA. That won't have helped

Neither will the storm sweeping across the NE United States.
