Anyone know what the new Resort Mugs will look like?

POR says this to but that did not keep people from using mugs from POP, All Stars, or wherever. We saw people using them from years ago and nothing was said.

Again, not really enforced due to Disney getting their Coke products for free.

I have seen it enforced at CBR. Also they make get it for free but I am sure they get something in return for the free syrup.

I doubt you will see 2008 mugs until the 2007 mugs run out.

That's a very good point. Last August before the Food & Fun Center at the Contemporary had closed, part way threw my stay they had switched from the Contemporary mugs to the YOAMD mugs. However on my last night they had went back to the Contemporary mugs. When I asked about this I was told they 1st had to sell out of the Contemporary mugs, before they could have sold th YOAMD mugs.

Still here and at all the hotels I have been to today - been around resort hopping I have seen the YOAMD mugs with NO date on them at all.

I agree, it does make more sense if you are going to be in more than one resort during your stay. (And yes, I know that you aren't supposed to use mugs from one resort in another...).

It does make sense if you are splitting your stay to be able to use the same mug but I am another person who misses the resort specific mugs. Wouldn't it be nice if they gave you a choice and sold both?

I really wish they'd bring the resort specific mugs for all of the resorts. They made great souvies that were useful too. My WL, POR and AKL mugs are all showing some major signs of wear.

They were not very big. They hold 16 ozs. Refills are free on any drink at the beverage station at your resort. Cokes Coffee and hot choc. You only pay one time when you purchase the mug.

They are not and I think it speaks volumes about how Disney feels about the mug use --- they just don't care when/where you use it --- despite their signage. They are making it easier to use mugs on repeat visits in various spots rather than more difficult.

I don't think having a generic mug speaks volumes about anything. It means they probably got a very good price for buying that many mugs.

I would think that if Disney was that "concerned" about it, they'd enforce a similar system of what they have at the Water Parks at their resorts.

For those that don't know, Disney water parks offer a "refillable mug" that is only good for the date of purchase. Your purchase the mug and they apply a bar code sticker that must be scanned on the fountain machine before recieving a beverage. You can return with your mug on future trips, but you must purchase a new bar code sticker.

It would be a hassle at times, but imagine if Disney applied the same idea to their resorts? Everytime you purchase a mug, you show your room card, and your attendant prints out a sticker that is good for the length of your stay (hence the room key) that he/she applies to the mug. That sticker is only good for your specific resort and for those dates. Those purchasing regular drinks would have standard codes already scanned/printed onto the cup that are good for one drink. Therefore the only way to "reuse" your mug would be to purchase a new sticker/mug.

I'm sure Disney will crack down on this someday... and maybe "resort wide" mugs are just the start of it. Either way... I've always loved my mug and will always buy a new one every trip... it's such a great start to any Disney Resort vacation. Of course, I'm just a family of two, can't imagine what it would be for larger families lol.

Maybe I mis-read, but, can I use the YOMD mugs that I purchased last year, this year? I am disappointed that there are no resort mugs again this year. I like the ones that I have. They are wonderful souvies!

The only difference on the ones being sold this year so far is the numbers 2007 are no longer there and nothing is there in its place.

The signage says the mugs are good for length of stay or some such wording. Ask in the food court and they tell you to go ahead and use your mug and you can use it in other hotels as well. Many will argue but that is what they tell you when you ask...or at least what I have found to be true.

It is very tempting to use a refillable mug from a previous visit, if the mugs have not changed, for my family it would save us $40. But it is against the rules and would constitute stealing IMO. The mugs are good throughout your stay.

While staying at the WL last year and just watching people come and go through Roaring Forks.. most people I would say 90% of them had the old WL Mug .. I was so surprised!

I like the YOAMD mugs much better than the resort mugs. We tend to eat at various resort food courts during our stays, and this makes it much more practical. We don't have to pay for a drink with each meal.

Split stays are easier this way also. Why purchase a mug twice in one week?

It makes a lot of sense for those who does split stays like us. And it's cheaper for not buying the mugs twice or 3x in one week or two.

I bring my mugs back from the year before and use them. I've been going to Disney for the past 15 years and staying on grounds and never has anyone approached us regarding the re-using of our mugs. I do however buy 4 new ones every 3 years or so, so it doesn't look too bad. We always stay at the CBR and last year I did see some very old mugs that guest were using, and I mean old..like from 1993! No one said anything, so I don't think it matters to Disney. I guess that's why they might all be the same this year????
