Anyone know what American Idol's theme is tonight?

I assume that they start their "theme" nights tonight - where the singers must choose a song from a particular genre. Has anyone heard what that is for the first week of this "top 12" competition?

Apparently, they aren't going to announce the themes until the night of the show. Also, they're done with the celebrity judges for the next several weeks, at least. USAToday had a nice Idol article this morning.

On two different spoiler sites, they have it called 60's night.

Granted this is from a rehearsal so things may have changed.... remember this is a rehearsal, so it may be interesting to see if the songs or order have changed.

In the beginning they showed Ryan announcing to the top 12 on Wednesday that the theme will be 60s songs.


Here’s what they sang in order:


01. Jessica Sierra: Not sure what the song was called but it wasn’t very good and the judges didn’t like it either. Simon said she “lost her spark.”


02. Anwar: “A house is not a home” It wasn’t his best, but it was still good. The audience loved him. Simon thought it was boring, but he still likes Anwar a lot.


03. Mikalah: “Son of a Preacher Man” She was back to her old self, danced, and did an okay performance. The judges didn’t like her very much.


04. Constantine: “You Make Me So Very Happy” Excellent! His best yet. Amazing stage presence and the audience/judges liked it.


05. Lindsey “Knock on Wood” I thought it was okay, but everyone seemed to disagree. The judges thought she was awful.


06. Anthony “Breaking up is hard to do” the slow version. Not good. Judges called it a “hotel lounge performance.”


07. Nadia “You don’t have to say you love me.” Amazing. One of the best of the night.


08. Bo “Spinning Wheel” Very solid performance.


09. Vonzell “If you had a heart” it was good. Simon said she’s “sweet, but hasn’t done anything great or bad.” Predicts she might be gone in 5 weeks.


10. Scott “Aint too Proud to Beg” It was okay, nothing special.


11. Carrie: “When Will You Love Me” It was okay, definitely not her best. She’s pretty boring on stage. Randy and Paula didn’t like it, but Simon did.


12. Nikko “I Want You Back” There was a reason why Nikko was already voted off once and this performance showed it. He had to redo the song four times cause he kept messing up. His pitch was off and it was very flat. They made him redo it until it was “perfect.” Randy and Paula loved it, Simon hated it.

Sounds like just the results show is live...the one when they announce the loser.

Tonight's show and next week's performance show are taped because of the number of contestants and needing to make sure everyone gets the proper amount of airtime. After that, they will go back to live performance shows.

The results shows are still live.

Here's the word from the AI site: This week's contest and next week's contest will be taped on Monday Night because there are so many contestants and they need to edit so that they don't go over time. The result shows will be live as always. Once they're down to the top 10 the contest will be aired live. Hope that helps.

Oh I'm kind of disappointed the show isn't live tonight & next week The last several weeks were all live, correct?

I always thought they were done in the afternoon and broadcast that night - that they were never "live" unless it was results night?
