In the LBV area in that price range, you might want to check out the Alexan at World Gateway - only a few years old, gated and managed by TCRS which I've had good experience with in the past.
The Alta on I-Drive is brand new and really lovely. The 2/2s start at $1000/month and when I was looking they were giving 2 months free, prorated, making the monthly rent about $875/month. I'm not sure what their pet fees are though. It is a nice location - walking distance to Publix and the Premium Outlets.
Alexandria/Park Vue are nice units with the potential for view of Disney's fireworks at night. The location is just okay though with CR-535 having ongoing construction with no end in sight and they're not really near any stores or anything.
Stay away from anything managed by Concord - they're pretty much all restricted income and I was not impressed with the people I met in the rental offices. IMO, the people they hire to manage the property reflect the type of culture you can expect in the community. The Concord property managers were very lackluster and not very professional when I went to look at places. By contrast, at the TCRS properties I visited, the rental agents always dressed and presented themselves in an extremely professional manner.
Another good resource is
Rent.com. They give you $100 if you find an apartment through their listings and will email you weekly with suggested properties.
Metrowest can be tricky - there are some really lovely complexes but then there are some really unsavory ones as well.
Hunters Creek has a ton of options as well but I'm not really familiar with them. The good thing about Hunters Creek is that the schools are generally well rated and there is plenty of nearby shopping (Target, Home Depot, grocery stores, etc).
Best of luck to you!!!
