We are looking at moving to Orlando or Fort Lauderdale in the late fall.

Fort Lauderdale is beautiful but expensive!!!

Hopefully My Fiance gets Orlando instead!!!

Any idea's of good complexes in the Metrowest, Hunter's Creek or LBV areas????

TIA!!!

Have you looked on apartments.com? I don't know much about apts in Metrowest or the LBV area but everything in Hunter's Creek is nice. A few people from work live in apts in Hunters Creek and pay about $1100 for a 3/2. After selling our first house, we moved into an apt in Kissimmee so my daughter could go to the same school until we decided what our next step was. We paid $900 for a 3/2. Other 3/2's in the area were much cheaper but remember, you get what you pay for.

Thanks for the response. Which apartment in Kissimee?

I think I am leaning towards Hunter's Creek rather than Metro West.

We woud like a 2/2 or 3/2 for $1100 when all is said and done. The rent needs to be at or under $1100 including pet fees and what-not. We have two cats and will have a small dog, however all the apartments I have been in believe I have one cat. Cheating, I know but they look alike and they hide when maintance comes....

I checked into Hunters Creek and Metrowest when I was down last time. I lean towards HC because of the schools in the subdivision. I have a good friend who lives n Metrowest, she works at Universal so it's closer, and she loves it.

Let us know what you picked!

DMickey28,

We lived at Bermuda Lakes Apts, a few miles south of Hunters Creek on John Young Pkwy (one of the main roads). We did not have any pets at the time but if we did, there was a $400 non refundable fee per pet plus $15 per pet per month added to your rent. Check into anything listed in the lease about pets. Ours stated that if we had pets that were not listed and were caught, we could be evicted. They also had rules about no bbq grills or you could be evicted, not to let an evicted neighbor move in with you or you would also be evicted, etc. While some of the rules seemed crazy, we never had a problem during the 2 years we lived there and there was very little police activity in the complex compared to lots of police activity at other complexes just up the road.

In the LBV area in that price range, you might want to check out the Alexan at World Gateway - only a few years old, gated and managed by TCRS which I've had good experience with in the past.

The Alta on I-Drive is brand new and really lovely. The 2/2s start at $1000/month and when I was looking they were giving 2 months free, prorated, making the monthly rent about $875/month. I'm not sure what their pet fees are though. It is a nice location - walking distance to Publix and the Premium Outlets.

Alexandria/Park Vue are nice units with the potential for view of Disney's fireworks at night. The location is just okay though with CR-535 having ongoing construction with no end in sight and they're not really near any stores or anything.

Stay away from anything managed by Concord - they're pretty much all restricted income and I was not impressed with the people I met in the rental offices. IMO, the people they hire to manage the property reflect the type of culture you can expect in the community. The Concord property managers were very lackluster and not very professional when I went to look at places. By contrast, at the TCRS properties I visited, the rental agents always dressed and presented themselves in an extremely professional manner.

Another good resource is Rent.com. They give you $100 if you find an apartment through their listings and will email you weekly with suggested properties.

Metrowest can be tricky - there are some really lovely complexes but then there are some really unsavory ones as well.

Hunters Creek has a ton of options as well but I'm not really familiar with them. The good thing about Hunters Creek is that the schools are generally well rated and there is plenty of nearby shopping (Target, Home Depot, grocery stores, etc).

Best of luck to you!!!

The schools in Hunters Creek are really great! The location is also very conveniently located near the Greeneway (417) and there is everything you need in terms of shopping as Pammy said.
We lived in Hunters Creek up until a year ago or so when we moved over to Windermere.

In some ways I wish we had stayed in Hunters Creek because the schools were better there.

"The Legends" used to be Alta Gate in Champions Gate

This is one exit west of Disney/Celebration on I4. It is at a golf course community and in an excellent location. Kids go to Four Corners Charter School (very good) Ridgeview Academy (excellent) and Celebration for schools. There are also other apartments in the area - I'm not sure of the name.

"The Legends" is pretty well run, and it is a nice neighborhood, right off I4.

My personal problem with Hunters Creek is the traffic around there and the traffic getting there. I wouldn't be able to handle the John Young Parkway several times a day.

Check out the Colonial Grand properties in Hunters Creek. They have 3 different complexs and all 3 are great. I'm in Heather Glen and it's perfect.

IMO, the people they hire to manage the property reflect the type of culture you can expect in the community.

This is more than an opinion, it's a marketing ploy. You are so right.

Add another vote for Hunters Creek area. It is very convenient to get around and has just about all you will need in that area. It is also a quick jaunt on the Osceola Parkway to Disney. As someone already stated, the Colonial apartments are nice. I almost moved in to the Colonial at Hunters Creek but ended up staying in Kissimmee instead.

I personally do not like the Metrowest area. You really have to know the neighborhood to know what areas are good to live in and what areas to avoid. And to me, the traffic on Kirman is way worse than the traffic on John Young.

If you end up in Ft. Lauderdale instead, there are some nice places owned by Archstone-Smith. I am moving down there (moving truck just picked up my stuff) and found they had some nice complexes in the area. Although that area is more expensive than the Orlando area, many of the complexes offer move in specials that reduce the rent there also.
