Anyone know of a Project Linus chapter still accepting mailed blankets?

My daughters and I have been crocheting blankets for our local Chapter Linus (Raleigh, NC) but they are not participating in GAD. I've e-mailed the other NC chapters to inquire about their participation but haven't heard from any of them. Is there still a chapter out there in need of our type of blankets where they could be mailed?

We still plan on donating locally but we wanted to take advantage of GAD too before it ends. TIA.

I expect that Project Linus was affected by this first phase of closing the GAD program - no more flexible opportunities (where an unspecified number can participate). If you are not currently registered for a particular one, and do a search in the opportunity list and don't see any, you probably could not register at this point.

I found an opportunity in Norman, IL. We registered a few days ago so I think we just got in at the last minute. Not sure if this opportunity is still available.

If someone is still looking for a project and cannot find one locally, the Binky Patrol in GA will allow you to ship your blankets. So search under 30078 for the zip. They are very quick. They responded to me within a couple of hours and I was signed up on the Disney site. You pick the date you expect the blankets to be delivered as your volunteer date.

I just registered with the national program today. If you scroll to the bottom of the list of opprotunities in your area there is a box that says:
Not finding enough opportunities? Try broadening your search. Select ALL interest areas.
Click here for additional volunteer opportunities that will qualify for this program.

If you click here it gives you a list of projects you can do at home. #3 and 4 are the Project Linus blankets for both US and Canada. Hope this helps! :)

You have 2 months from when you sign up to complete your volunteering.

Try area code 60451 in New Lenox, IL
The coordinator there is wonderful!

I was going to mail mine into National Headquarters, this is pretty close to me so I am dropping them off today. She was very friendly, and contacted me in a timely manner. I don't know if the National Headquarters is still accepting, but I had nothing but good experiences when communicating w/ them.

Try Blanchard, OK -- zip code: 73010....a friend just signed up with them on Thursday. Good luck!

Thanks; I tried this based on a post that I saw on another thread but they appear to be accepting local volunteers only to sew on labels for the blankets.

I was able to register with the national program; we also inquired about Heart to Heart International. They are looking for families to create care kits ( 10 per person) for children in Haiti. Hope this helps someone else looking to volunteer!

Warren Ohio is still taking blankets. It doesn't say anything about mailing them in in the posting, but I talked with the woman, and they ARE accepting mailed blankets. They are asking for 1 per person.

Thank you so much for this thread. Having a special needs child, it can be difficult to schedule my time out - but I can certainly work in to the evening sewing. I signed up for the Linus project, and plan on making blankets to send in, and just donating our free days to an organization :goodvibes
