anyone know of a good program to rip DVDs to iTunes?

DW wants to put some training videos on her IPOD so she can study anywhere and anytime. She has permission, we are not trying to steal movies, hehehehheee. we both have VISTA.

a freeware program would be best. But all the free ones we find are just free trials.

gosh it's a process to do it. Do the videos have any form of encryption?

We use videora (freeware) to convert video files to mp4 for use on the ipods. I would have to put my son on here for that, it's been a while since I've done it. he would know the steps.

If there is encryption on the video files you might have a bit of a problem getting them onto your pc to convert to mp4 format.

If the DVD's aren't encrypted, I'd suggest Handbrake as a very easy way to get the video to an iPod. http://handbrake.fr/

If the DVD's are encrypted, you need to seek out more sinister software, of which I'm not sure I can post here......

I've always used DVD Decrypter to rip the VOB files from the DVD and then converted them to mp4 files using a program called Super. Both are free.

I use OneClick DVD to iPod software for taking a disc that I only plan on using on my iPod or iPhone. If you need a DVD Decrypter DVD43 is a free download. If I am converting from another format (AVI/WMV) to MP4, I use DVD Pro, it does everything you could imagine for all formats, including PSP and other formats.

The easiest I've found is the software suite from Slysoft. It's not free (around $100) but well worth it. DVDmobile let's you choose what device you're ripping the DVD for, getting rid of all the guesswork.

I have yet to find a DVD or Bluray that this software doesn't work for.
