Anyone know much about digital camcorders?

Hey guys!

I'm looking into getting a digital camcorder for my next Disney trip, and I found this one on sale on Best Buy for $289. It sounds like a pretty good buy, but I was hoping someone here would know more about them than I do an be able to offer some insight? For one, it says that at the highest quality, it records at 320 x 240 dpi. Is that any good?

If you want a good quality picture to watch on tv no that is not a good choice. It's more of a carry around web cam quality.

That is more of a computer "toy" that won't give you good results.

For a true digital camcorder you want something with CCD. Lines per inch, pixels, etc.

minidv camcorders would be a better choice if you want something closer to the quality (but far better) of the regular vhs camcorders.

My dd bought the first camera you mentioned as a webcam and it's great for what she needed it for which was a webcam for instant messaging with her bf in Iraq and it is also takes still shots that she email to him or just print. It does take video/audio but it's not too many frames per/second so it's video is webcam quality if you know what I mean. The good thing about the video though is that since the quality is so low it doesn't take much memory and she is able to email video clips also. Works well if your main goal is to enhance internet based communications. If your goal is to have a regular digital camcorder then this is not the camera for you.
