We just recently got ours and have been using it for some home improvements.

How many points/rewards do you need before you can redeem?

How many points/rewards = $1 when redeeming?

Thanks

It does take a while. From the rewards website:

You earn 1% in Disney Dream Reward Dollars® on everyday purchases made with your credit card.1 So, for every $100 in qualified purchases on the card, you earn 1 Disney Dream Reward Dollar. 1 Disney Dream Reward Dollar is worth $1 when redeeming for Disney products and offerings.

Hope that helps.

You need $10 to request a card, and then the card can be reloaded. I think they're good approx. a year.

We requested ours last August with $10 each on them. The day before we left (October) we called and transferred the rest of what we had in our account onto the cards.

They expired December 2010..

*eta* Other posters below are right, it's $20! From their website: "Request a Disney Rewards® Redemption Card as soon as you have 20 DDRDs. Your Disney Rewards Redemption Card is accepted at most Disney locations. Only instead of paying with US dollars, you're redeeming the DDRDs you've earned. And remember, 1 Disney Dream Reward Dollar is worth $1 when redeeming for Disney products and offerings."

To get your initial rewards card I think you need to transfer 10 points. After that you can transfer anything.

Usually, according to the Disney rewards site, you have to have 20 rewards to order a Disney Rewards Card. After the initial order you can transfer any amt over 10. I know I've had to have 20 the couple times I ordered one. The cards are usually good until December of the next year. I just ordered a new card (3/10) and it is good through Dec 2011. This trip my statement closes the day after we arrive so I'll call the following day to transfer whatever reward dollars I have. Or you can transfer them online, too.

Check out the Disney Rewards site. It covers, officially, all of your questions.

We've had ours for about three years or so, and it's the only CC we have. It's not great as far as rewards, but I like that we're forced to spend the rewards at WDW. Otherwise, I'd end up buying something sensible with it. This way, I cover meals or ridiculously expensive souvenirs. Also not worth the rewards if you don't pay off in full each month. The cards also really pretty!

I like that every now and then they offer a specific extra 3 - 5% award if you spend over an xxx amount of dollars each month for specific categories. My DH and I each have a Disney Visa and last year, on both cards, they offered 5% on anything over $1,000. spent each month - up to $200. Normally, I would not spend that much, but would you believe I ended up paying for my deceased father's piering on his home - over $5,500. - then paid for my brother's funeral on the other card and was reimbursed by the estates for each cost. What a way to max out reward cards. :confused3 Disney Visa probably regretted giving us that offer.

We've gotten the 5% several times. The promos usually span three months in the earning period The first time it was any purchase over $250, then $500, last time it was $1000. I know some people had $2500 on one thread. Great time to rack up points!

We love ours. We use it for pretty much everything and during different promotions they give 3x,5x,6x points so you earn faster. We tend to get the gift card right before we leave for our trip and use it to buy our dining plan, park tickets, food, or souveniers depending on how much we have saved since our last trip.
We have earned as much as $1000 in previous years, so for us it works really well
