I posted recently about a stop spot on the way home from Florida to Michigan and upon checking around I am thinking about Cleveland Tenn. It seems a decent city with lots of hotels and restaurants. Anyone know anything about this area or stopped there? Are most of the hotels going to be off the freeway?

thanks!

Don't blink....you'll miss it. Everything in the way of motels etc is at 1 interstate exit.

She's right don't blink you will miss it. It's about hour away from Chattanooga.

We've stopped there several times. I know there's a Cracker Barrel! Severl hotel chains.

So even though its obviously small (but does have at least 6 major hotels) and some restaurants..its a decent SAFE spot to stop for the night on the way home?

Mapquest shows it approx. 9 hrs. 51 mins. from Kissimmee and about 9 hrs 43 minutes to Michigan (Redford) ---FYI it only shows about a 20 minute difference in time from Chattanooga (with Cleveland being north of Chattanooga)

I grew up in Calhoun, GA, about 45 miles south of Chattanooga. I moved from the area about 6 years ago, but personally I wouldn't have any problems staying in Cleveland.

If you wanted to drive another hour and get past Chattanooga, you could stay in Dalton or Calhoun. The exit numbers have changed, but I would recommend Walnut Avenue exit in Dalton (first exit after you pass Dalton College, which you will see on the right going south) or the Highway 53 exit in Calhoun. Plenty of hotels and restaurants at both.

Matthew, thanks..this is for on the way home so we would be heading north versus south so Georgia wouldnt be far enough for us :-)

Sounds like this town is ok and from the size of it the hotels shouldnt be far off the freeway?

Hi Diane! :flower:
I live about 45 minutes away from Cleveland. It is a nice area, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there.

There are 2 exits, 25 and 27. Both have lodging near the interstate. You shouldn't have any trouble finding a place. If you opt for a place off of exit 27 (Paul Huff Parkway), you will find several restaurants (Panera Bread, O'Charleys come to mind, but there are more) about 2 miles from the interstate toward town. Also, there is a mall and a Walmart. This is the newer area of Cleveland, so it has the newer restaurants, shops, etc. If I remember right, the Cracker Barrell is off of exit 25.

Here is a link to a list of places to stay off of both exits.

Thank you both! I am thinking of trying Priceline as they have 2* listed in Cleveland..thats why I wanted to make sure whatever they give me wont be far from the freeway if most of them are anyway :-)
