anyone know a good place for a 5-11 year old to be vaccinated near disney world?

we have a curious problem.
we're a group of 9.
All of the adults are fully vaccinated (4 doses thus far)
the 6 year old is also fully vaccinated (2 doses)
the 4 year old can't be vaccinated so she'll do the PCR before the cruise

but the 8 year old has a problem.
He caught covid right before they began vaccinating 5 to 11 year olds.
Where we live, once you've had covid, you're only permitted to get one dose (not the 2 required for the CDC's definition of fully vaccinated).

So as far as DCL is concerned, he only has one dose (having recovered from covid is irrelevant in that calculation).

But we're arriving in the USA 25 days before the cruise.
So i suggested to my son that we could get the 8 year old (his son, my grandson) vaccinated in orlando when we first get there.
since it just has to be at least 14 days before the cruise.

Thus the question in the subject header.
We're not familiar with the US medical system.
Is there a place that the 8 year old can get a pfizer vaccine near disney world? A place you would recommend? A place that knows how to measure the smaller dose?
We'll obviously continue to try to convince them to give him the second vaccine here, but i doubt it will happen.
Does he have to be a US citizen or resident to be vaccinated there?

We have supermarkets here in the Orlando area called Publix. They have all brands of the vaccine and for all ages. The store in Celebration FL is very close to WDW 321-939-3100. I don’t know about residency, but I’m sure they’ll be able to help you find the answer.

Depending on the airport, some offer them right there. I think O’hare does, so it wouldn’t surprise me if others do too.

I wonder if you say it is a travel requirement if your government would allow him to get a second shot?

Currently vaccines are available just about everywhere in the US where there is a pharmacy, including grocery stores that have pharmacies in them. Every pharmacy would know how to properly dose a child. And age 17 and under are only given Pfizer. Appointments can be booked online. Depending on the state, some were booking weeks out (at least in December when I was trying to book boosters for my family in MA). Florida will likely be pretty easy to get an appt. No idea about nationality or if you would be charged for the vaccination due to that. Vaccine availability has opened up greatly since the start of vaccination...in the early days you could only get it in the state you lived/worked/studied, and had to meet the various conditions (age/comorbidities, etc)

Now things could have changed but I got my vaccine in Florida last year and I am a Texas resident. I was upfront about where I was from and they had my insurance information. They didn't care they just wanted to know I was of age to get the shot. I hope this helps. You should be able to walk into any CVS, Walgreens, Publix or Target(also a CVS pharmacy) and get vaccinated. I hope you have a great trip.

Walk into any local pharmacy and request that your child be vaccinated. Viola. Done.

You can currently also do it at the Orlando airport.

My parents were recently visiting from Canada for several weeks; they had no problem getting their COVID booster here in Florida. We offered to pay for it, but were told there was no charge. We were told that some people don't return for their follow up jabs & they often have to waste vaccine.

Fyi they don't aspirate the injections here so you'll have to ask

Usually appointments are available next day (check the sources recommended here: Walgreens Pharmacy, CVS Pharmacy, etc). Just want to clear something up: There will be no "dosing", or measuring as you put it, the pediatric vaccine for ages 5-11 by Pfizer is in completely different vials, with a different color cap. The dose is 10 mcg of vaccine. For comparison the adult dose is 30 mcg for Pfizer. Drawing up a smaller dose out of an adult vial is not permitted here. At the pharmacy the vaccine will be given by the pharmacist. The vaccines have been offered free of charge to anyone for a long time now, so hopefully there will be no issues.

The 8 year old finally got his second vaccine.
So he's fully vaccinated now.
Here's hoping the FDA doesn't approve vaccines for those 4 and under otherwise the 4 year old will have the same problem about getting 2 vaccines since she's already had covid.

Curious - which country are you traveling from? You bring up interesting points about international travel, since not all countries approve at the same time or apply the same rules. However, I'd say it's extremely likely that the FDA will approve a vaccine for 4 year-olds in June. DCL would not immediately require it - you can anticipate a lag between approval and any potential requirement. For ages 5-11 the lag was more than two months.
