Correct me if I am wrong--
Just b/c prosecution is seeking death penalty, it doesn't mean she'll get a not guilty verdict. It also doesn't meant that just b/c he's on it--doesn't mean he believes in her innocence.
But I could be mistaken.
The more experts she has, the better.
I'd rather a guilty plea stick than to have such trials and tribulations on appeal.
If they pull out all the stops now--there really isn't much extra they can do later.
It's true. Just because the prosecution is seeking the death penalty, it does not mean that she would get the death penalty if found guilty. It is a possibility, especially due to the nature of the case.
I agree that she should get every possible expert her attorneys feel is necessary. If she should be found guilty, let it be that all facets of the case were explored and that the case is air tight.
The new attorney is anti-death penalty. He defends people who have the possibility of the death penalty because he does not feel it is an appropriate sentence. Does it mean that she will get off? No, but he will fight against the death penalty as the sentence should she be convicted. This guy is good. He has a track record of getting people off even when there appears to be a good case against them.
From my point of view, I'm glad he is on the case. If she is convicted with him on the case, it will mean that she was given every possible chance. That is the way it should be.
While I feel that Casey is most likely guilty and should pay for the crime, the thing that bothers me about this case is that she has become the next thing to the devil himself. Yes, it is a horrible crime. Yes, Caylee was an adorable child and what happened to her is beyond criminal, but I see cases every day on the news that are just as bad or worse. These cases don't get the same publicity. The people who kill these children don't get vilified like Casey and get off with fairly light sentences. These are people who have tortured their children to death. What is the difference between these people and Casey? I don't get it. You can flame me, but I don't like the double standard here. In my opinion, a lot of this is because of the news coverage and people like Nancy Grace. They've made Casey into something beyond comparison to so many others who torture and kill their children. It isn't right.
