Anyone keeping up with the Casey Anthony case?

Her legal team has asked the court that they stop requiring all of their meetings with Casey be recorded. They say they can't hold the conversations they need to defend her when everything they say is being recorded for public access. They also want her to be able to meet with her family without being recorded.

Florida has what they call the Sunshine Law. Basically, everything becomes public record.

They also have petitioned the court to drop the death penalty. That is why the prosecutor started describing how he assumed Caylee died.

I wonder if other attorneys get that privilege with their clients in jail. (I really don't know--but if they do not, then Casey is no special exception. They had months to work with her all hours of the day in his office.)

Her family does not deserve a special privilege.

Casey Anthony will be back in court Friday December 11 for motion hearings.

Motion to preclude the death penalty procedures
Motion for a protective order prohibiting Orange County Jail from videotaping attorney visits
Motion for a protective order directing Orange County Jail to destroy videos of family visitsMotion to dismiss counts 1,2, 4, 5, 7, 8 10, 11, 13 for violation of double jeopardy clause

I hope this is totally denied. They have Casey lying and sending her family on a wild goose chases--valid evidence to demonstrate her behavior.

Thank you!

I wish she would just snap and confess.

I wish as well, but that will not ever happen. It is said she is a sociopath or some of the other psychosis that will prevent her from doing this. She firmly believes that she will get off...and if she does, I predict that one day she will write a book similar to OJ.:sad2:

just yesterday i finished reading 'mommy's little girl' by diane fanning. it is a VERY interesting book. while the author did'nt interview casey, lee, cindy or george she interviewed a whole lot of the people involved AND some of cindy's family. the stuff she got from cindy's brother in the way of e-mails that flew back and forth between him, cindy, cindy's mom and other family members is mind blowing (cindy's family were convinced caylee was deceased and casey was responsible from almost the very start based on casey's prior history).

apparantly there's a history of cindy and george going into the total blind denial mindset regarding casey even when the truth is staring them in the face. when casey was around 7 months pregnant with caylee she showed up at a family event very clearly showing and everyone was very surprised to see her in that condition because they had'nt heard word one about it-when they tried to talk to casey about it-she denied being pregnant, and george and cindy repeatedly said 'what are you talking about? she's not pregnant' saying that casey was just 'bloated'. the family was like 'that is not bloat, that is pregnant-how can you say she's not?'. cindy and george were adamant that casey could'nt be pregnant because at some point in her life she had promised her mom that she would let her know if she lost her virginity, and since she had'nt told cindy up to that point (and they were adamant that she never lied or withheld information from them:sad2:) she was definatly still a virgin, and a virgin can't be pregnant:scared1:

when casey finaly fessed up some weeks later both george and cindy apparantly behaved like they were totaly shocked, that the idea she was pregnant never entered their minds and had never been brought up by anyone.

the trial testimony should be facinating-the stuff cindy has directly told other people about casey directly contradicts what she's said in depositions. i know allot of people wonder why the state is still pursuing the check theft charges with all else that's going on-after reading this i suspect it's so they can get some testimony on the record. the female friend of casey's whose checks that were stolen that are the basis of some of the charges did'nt find out from the bank about the theft-she was alerted by cindy who met with her when she was trying to locate casey and caylee. cindy was telling all kinds of things that casey had done, including what she (cindy) perceived as bad parenting, and told the woman that if caysey had ever had any access to any of the woman's money she'd likely been robbed blind. at that point the woman realized her checkbook had been left in her car recently when casey was borrowing it-she looked in it, found out there were missing checks so she called the bank and learned the extent to which her account had been drained.

there is person after person whose knowledge of casey is totaly different from anyone elses-she had different realities she would spin for different people depending on what they were like/what she wanted to present herself as (and she was adept at keeping people separate/unaware of each other so that people did'nt realize the glaring differences in what they believed/were told).

and I just love how Casey asked her attny to "make him stop" re the details of the murder of her daughter and Baez said (and he's said it before) the state wants to kill Casey Anthony.....OF COURSE THEY DO....she killed her child, who had no chance.

Yep.

:scared1: I was not aware of this book, I will have to look for that one. I have heard some of this info, its all shocking that parents could be blind to their kids behavior. What about Lee. At some point I heard that he was presumably Caylees dad or that he forced himself on his sister:sick: .
This whole store is crazy and bizarre, and don't forget Leonard Pidea:laughing:
He's a character too lol.

DNA prooved the child was not the daughter of either brother or father.

the book does'nt talk a whole lot about lee-i got the impression that as soon as he was done with highschool he got a good paying job and the heck out of dodge (the marital tensions and the financial reasons the marriage between cindy and george continues sounds like enough to drive anyone out).

it did talk about how lee's girlfriend thought all along that the idea of casey working the job she claimed to have at universal did'nt make sense-apparantly she (the girlfriend) was attending college to work in that field and she knew casey did'nt have the education that was needed at bare minimum to qualify for that type of job.

speaking of education-apparantly until casey was arrested and the police started questioning cindy's family the family was'nt aware that casey had'nt graduated highschool. george and cindy did'nt find out until late into her senior year that she was short quite a few units but the school offered several different options for casey to finish up in time-which she lied to her parents about doing. when graduation rolled around they only got her to fess up when she could'nt explain why the school had'nt given her a cap and gown to wear to the ceremony. apparantly they made up some kind of excuse to keep the relatives from showing up at the ceremony but told people that she did graduate:sad2:

the book is pretty slim on george's side of the family as well, but apparantly the relationships are strained at best-at some point in time he worked for his father, and during an argument george pushed him through a plate glass window:scared1:

I have followed this since day one and on WS as well....I feel NO sympathy for Cindy, George or Lee....IM they are in this up to their eyeballs, after reading all the docs and everything, they have out and out LIED to LE. It's amazing, I hope in the end they are charged as well.

I agree. I feel no sympathy for Cindy or George. They are monsters too in my eyes.

Im sure Nancy Grace is keeping up with it since she doesnt have anything better to do.

:confused3
Maybe she is taking care of her own twins?
Or maybe she is working hard at her job?
or maybe she is donating her $$ and time to charities?
Or maybe she is keeping the public apprised of the case?
Or maybe she is reminding us all what POND SCUM lurks out there and to be thankful for what we have and enjoy it while we have it?

I watched the court appearance. Casey cried when the prosecutor gave his feelings on how Caylee died. It was pretty gruesome. It seemed to disturb many people in the courtroom. Whether Casey is guilty or not, I believe she did love Caylee in her own way. I can see why listening to what the prosecutor said upset her. By the way, the description was just how the prosecutor imagined the crime took place. They did not present any type of evidence. Nothing like that will happen until the trial takes place.

The ONLY.....I repeat, the ONLY time Casey sheds a tear is when HER rear end is in a crack. Period. She cries when things go south for HER....if she can't make bail, if bail gets revoked, if her push up bra fails, whatever. When testimony regarding the horrible death of her child has been given over and over and over she has sat there as if they were reciting the Target sale ad.

Yes, she FINALLY reacted with tears while Caylee's death was discussed, but I'd bet a trip to WDW that it had NOTHING to do with the details of the actual death. Nope, it had to do with Casey realizing the judge was NOT going to take the death penalty off the table and once again, her hiney was in a big old uncomfortable crack. It's all about ME, ME, ME with Casey. As she heard the horrifying details of the murder, I figure she was thinking, "Oh crap, I may not be able to wiggle my way out of trouble this time. A jury may not be as gullible as my parents and lord help me.....they just might convict my murdering self and give me the needle." :headache:

THAT
is what caused the waterworks in court. :thumbsup2

Spot on! You articulated this much better than I did....

The ol'--"are you truly sorry, or are you sorry you got caught" question.

Before they quit reporting her daily antics in jail, if you didn't know any better--you'd think that she was hanging out in a hotel waiting for all this to pass over.

Judge Strickland has ruled on a couple of things:

http://www.clickorlando.com/news/21984071/detail.html

Orange County Circuit Judge Stan Strickland denied the motion filed by Anthony's defense team asking that several of the check fraud counts against her be dismissed because, they claimed, the charges constituted double jeopardy.

Okay--I've seen the movie--and at least in my non-attorney view of things, a check fraud charge is not the same as a murder charge. :confused3 Baez makes me wonder sometimes.

He also denied a request to have the Orange County Jail destroy videos of family visits to Anthony.

Good call. Especially given that they demonstrate--how un-helpful Casey was in trying to find her daughter. While it doesn't demonstrate murder, it is pretty damning tapes that will be critical for the prosecution.

Strickland also ruled that an audiotape secretly made by Joe Jordan, a Texas EquuSearch volunteer, during an interview with an Anthony defense investigator not be used or disclosed

I'm extremely curious as to what is on those tapes. But they were created in an unlawful matter and rightfully should not be used. I wonder if he can be subpoenaed to testify on what was said without using the tape.

I couldn't agree more!

Baez is an idiot.

I agree and that actually has me concerned.

If her defense is legally incompetent, then a conviction won't stick.

I'm hoping that some lawyer with common sense will help give Casey a realistic and plausible defense instead of the whack-a-doodle tactics that Baez comes up with it.

B/c come on!!!!

Double jeopardy? Check fraud....murder????

On what planet are those remotely the same and considered being convicted of the same crime twice?
Double jeopardy is a procedural defense (and, in many countries such as the United States, Israel, Canada, Mexico and India, a constitutional right) that forbids a defendant from being tried twice for the same crime on the same set of facts.
(wikipedia definition that I hope is accurate...)

Check fraud....murder.....only in Baez's head.

has anyone else been keeping up with this case?

I do on WS....apparantly *Prosecutors also filed a new motion asking the judge for a private closed-door meeting without the defense attorneys. Prosecutors say they have new material and information from investigators regarding the case that they don’t want to go be disclosed to the public.*

I think the majority opinion on WS is that Dominic C has spoken to LE and (I think) the trial has been moved to 2011 - a 15 month window, which WS'ers are saying that is an appropriate time for a new attny for Casey to get up to speed.

yikes!
