Anyone just return from Disney??? Table Service?

We ran into trouble with walk-up dining during 4/22-4/29. We tried the EPCOT world showcase restaurants for dinner, every time they said sorry we're booked for the night. Also Ohana and Whispering Canyon same thing. We don't like to set our plans in stone by making too many PS, so we ended up eating alot of counter service. Until this trip we had never had any trouble calling in the morning for dinner PS and had even been able to walk into nearly any restaurant. This was our first trip with the dining plan in effect (we didn't want to sign up for it though). The dining plan must really be filling the restaurants.

I'v got a question.......My 12 yr old likes to go to the parks comando style....(non stop) :moped: we will be there 8 nights, i know my child will not want to sit for table service all 8 nights, with him its counter serivce eat wipe mouth and go :mickeybar...
I know i could get a least 3 or 4 nights table service late into the stay, like a EPCOT so i guess my question is, say you have 4 table serivce tickets left over

1) did i read that 2 table serivce tickets will get you 1 character meal?
2) would you just have to use your table service for counter and lose on better and more food?

Thanks Brooke :flower:

Character meals use only 1 table service. You could use two table service credits per person for a signature restaurant though. But again - it's best get your AD in advance. The MYW dining brochure is strongly advising this.

Unfortunately, you can not use a table service credit for a counter service meal.

We were at WDW last week and the restaurants did seem busy. We were able to make some same day PS's, but we did see them say there were no more walk ups availiable for the rest of the night at 50's Prime Time. Boma and 'Ohana also always seemed crowded and crazy w/people.

We were in the lobby of AKL and this guy had just checked in with his family. He snapped at the bellhop saying "So what the heck are we supposed to do about food- the restauarant has an hour wait!?". He said it in such a nasty tone, I just want to say "hello, why didn't you make a PS?" There was no reason for him to be rude to the bell hop :sad2:

I have to agree with those who emphasize PS (or AR)...I over plan and then we go ahead and do whichever meets our fancy. Last week, we only had to really wait (with PS) over 5 minutes was at 'Ohana where we waited 25 minutes. That was Wednesday night when it was thunderstorming and I think a lot of people left MK and tried to do a walk up there.

On the other hand, earlier that day we had had PS lunch at Brown Derby and they were accepting walk ups with immediate seating (around 12:30). And we actually stopped by Cape May Cafe on Friday morning around 9:00 to see if there was an off chance we could get in as walk ups and we were seated within 5 minutes. We did more eating at the resorts though, and not as much at the parks. I was really impressed with how fast we were seated with the PS's. PS's are worth their weight in cake, I tell you ;)
