This might be a dining question, but I think someone here can help...we have PS's for the Ice Cream social in 19 days and I was planning on getting re-hitched for our 14th anniversary (5 days prior); however, I had read a few weeks ago on the boards that maybe they weren't doing this during the Social anymore. :(

Has anyone been recently who had this performed? I hope, I hope! TIA!

I have PS for the ice cream social for 7/25 and we have requested the rehitching ceremony. I wasn't told that they weren't doing it anymore. I certainly would like to find out as it is definately part of our 12th anniversary plans.

We are going in June and requested it for the 3rd week and it was put on the reservation. TA did not mention that it was not being done.

We have PS for July 24 and was told they're not doing re-hitching during Ice Cream Social also. If they still are doing please let me know.

I'm VERY interested in doing this while we are in WDW in December. I plan on making a PS for the Ice Cream Social, and will ask for the rehitching ceremony at that time. I'm also interested in anyones stories who has done it, or is planning on doing it in the near future. Please give us all the details! :p

It was for our 7 year anniversary. My DH didn't know anything about it -- in our family, all the planning for stuff like this is left up to me -- (works for me!!!) -- so when I made the PS I asked for the Re-hitching (at Garden Grill for a 1:50 p.m. lunch -- I know it's not the Social tho) -- anyway, the lady didn't know that much about it but added it to the PS and all that. She seemed to be able to pull up something on her computer about it.

Anyway, when we got there and checked in, I discreetly reminded them we planned to get re-hitched. We went through the whole character lunch with not a word about it... in fact, I thought maybe they'd forgotten because as we were getting ready to pay the bill and leave, the guy came by and asked me if we still wanted to do it. Another guy came out and made us stand up and included the people around us in the "ceremony." The announced our names and how long we'd been married and made us re-say, "I Do" to each other, then kiss to 100.... all the people around us were instructed to count to 100, first by counting 1-10 in ones, and then 10-20-30, etc. to 100... and that we had to kiss that whole time and then we'd be "re-hitched" for a lifetime. Then they presented us with a "certificate" of getting re-hitched and a cake.

Our 4 and 5 year old dd's were a bit befuddled by the whole thing, but when they brought out the small (and I mean small) round cake with a Mickey Mouse on it, they were excited! The cake was small enough that we just split it into four large pieces to share... could probably share it with 6-8 people though if you made it smaller pieces.

It was cute, but honestly, I expected a little more excitement about the whole thing. We didn't have that many people in the booths around us though, which probably contributed to that. I also thought it was a funny restaurant to offer this at since the booths are so private and it is kind of hard to get an "interaction" type of feel from it... it seems as if a Re-hitching would be better suited at a place like Whispering Canyon, IMHO... but you know, it didn't cost anything -- and it did surprise my dh who doesn't like attention called to him (and I love doing just that to him!) -- he was smiling when it was over too.

I wonder if they are telling you that they don't do it at Garden Grill anymore, if there's a way for the person taking your PS to check and see where they are doing it, because I thought there was another place too but I can't remember now.

I'm wondering if there's a phone # for the Garden Grill, someone could call there and just ask them, maybe?

We did the rehitching ceremony last July. I asked for it at the podium when we arrived for our PS. I wanted to tell you all something extra we did. My DD and her fiance were with us, and I requested a "pre-hitching ceremony" for them. The CM at the podium said no one had ever asked for that and that it was a great idea. So we had both--the re-hitching and the pre-hitching. It was a lot of fun.

I also am hoping to sneak this in with my DH in NOv. I hope they still do it!

My TA contacted them today and they are in fact no longer doing this during the ice cream social. It is now only offered during lunch and dinner.

I called CRO last night to confirm my ps for 7/25. She read it to me and I had PS for the ice cream social for 2:50pm and the rehitching ceremony was requested. That being said I asked her to do a little research and it turns out that they are also offering lunch during the same time period. I believe it used to be lunch to a certain time, then only the ice cream social, then only dinner. Now it looks like you can book ice cream social or lunch for the same time frame. The CM suggested that I make a lunch PS for 3pm then talk to them at the podium to see if it is currently possible to rehitch during the social. If we can we'll cancel the lunch ps if not we'll cancel the ice cream social ps. We are so looking forward to rehitching on our anniversary that we want to be safe.

I'm so curious to find out for sure if you can do this during the ice cream social. We won't be going for lunch.

We're going to the ice-cream social on 5/29 and I requested the re-hitching ceremony. I'll let you know if they do it when we get back.

Wow I didn't even know they did this. We are planning our 10th anniversary trip for December and I would be interested in doing this. What lunch and dinner is that at? Chef Mickey?

BUMP...still hoping for a reply from someone who has actually tried this recently.....
