Anyone just back from POR??

Has anyone recently returned from POR? I was just wondering what the pool situation was. There was some talk about some not so pretty lattice under the bridge. Has there been anyone repairs to the pool? I realize that they planned a rehab for January. Thanks!!

and the pool was great!!! I didnt see any lattice around there, but we were mostly in the kiddy pool with the girls, and around the slide. It was a really nice place!!!

I'm going too- stayed there in April of 2001 also. We really enjoyed our stay, tell me what you enjoyed. Is the boat service available to DD? Did you stay in AB or Mansion section? Thanks.

we got to POR right at 3:00pm, and was very pleased to see that check-in was very quick. We got the room that we wanted AB building 18 with 2 windows and a trundle bed. That worked out great!!! The food court was never crowded when we went. The boat was going to DD, but we never had time to even go over there. We had our own car, so we never used their transportation. The grounds are so peaceful in the morning. I never heard anyone walking around our room. We felt like we were the only one's there.

This was our first trip ever to WDW, and I would say we would probably stay there again if we get to go!!!

shannie-You said you stayed in bldg 18. I hear this is a great location, but did the rooms smell like smoke? My DH is a smoker but we usually stay in the non-smoking (bldg 15) because he does not smoke around the kids (house/hotel,ect). He always smokes outside. I heard complaints that people get upset w/ smokers on the sidewalks at the resort. I'm wondering if we should request 14/15 and have him walk over to 18 to smoke or if we should just request 18 (but really don't like that stale smoke smell). Thanks.

I smoked in the room, but when we got back, I could never smell the stale smoke. The ceiling fan helps alot too. I saw a few people smoking outside, and it didnt seem to bother anyone. They would just take a chair out of their room, and sit outside bye the ash can right outside their room. Building 18 is awsome location wise. The short walks to the food court was the best!!!
