We'll be there on Friday and I was wondering if the rennovations are in full swing....if you even noticed it...or if it was done?

We checked out on Saturday, 3/8. I noticed no renovations going on anywhere. We were in room 8001 on the east side of the building but spent a lot of time wandering around the resort.

Have a great trip! I wish I was going back with you. ;)

Thanks so much for the info............I wish I could take you :thumbsup2

i sure am! i have been inside the dolphin and thought it was sooo pretty. i love the epcot area! (dh won't stay anywhere but epcot anymore) i am anxious to try out some of the restaurants at both the swan and dolphin!

have a great trip! :) better get packing!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, what a great room! A long walk to the elevators, but an incredible Epcot view!

When we go in July, if we can't get an east-facing room in the far east wing, that room (or the one right next door) on the 8th or 9th floors would be spectacular to get.

Did you ask, or did you just get assigned?

Not 'just back', but we were there over Christmas/New Year's week...

It was kinda funny, we kept seeing these signs all over the resort that read, 'Pardon our dust, we're remodeling' (or words to that effect) but we didn't see *any* remodeling going on at all, let alone any 'dust'. :confused3

And believe me, over 9 days we scoured every inch of both the Dolphin and the Swan. The only thing we noticed was that The Cabana, (poolside bar & grill by The Dolphin pool) was boarded up. But, no sounds or sights of construction.

Happy to say that the staff of The Dolphin is made up of some very friendly and helpful people (many nicer than the actual Disney resorts, btw :rolleyes1 ) And we'll be back in May for the flower festival at Epcot. :hippie: :wizard: :hippie:

Hope you have a wonderful time.

for those that just got back, how was the Starbucks coffee there? And did you try the Picabu buffeteria? We're staying at the BCV and want to go over there one morning.

:rotfl2: It was a long walk! DH made me take a picture of the hallway because it reminded him of the Twilight Zone. It WAS a great room, though, with a fantastic view. I'm working on my trip report and, after I get the pictures uploaded, I'll be posting pictures of both the hallway and the view.

I had requested an Epcot view when I made the reservation. As I was checking in, the CM told me he wasn't sure if there was a fireworks view available but would I rather have a room on a higher floor or a lower one. I told him a higher floor and then DH came up to the desk and asked him if we had a fireworks view. :lmao: The poor guy told him he was working on it and then he said, "Hey, I found a great room for you!" And, boy, was he right.

The configuration of the room was a bit different than usual, though. It was sort of an L shape with the chair and desk in the short leg of the L. It had two huge windows and we could lie in bed and watch Illuminations, though, so we happily put up with the smaller closet and slightly narrower room.

I don't drink coffee but DH drank a lot of it. He didn't complain like he does about coffee at the Disney resorts so I'm guessing it was okay. ;) Refillable mugs are available for both coffee and soft drinks if you think you might be going over there often for coffee.

We've stayed at the Dolphin 6 times and Picabu is my teenage dd's favorite restaurant anywhere at WDW. We ate there several times last week and it was always tasty. There is a wide selection of items.

Just a hint for breakfast--DH always had cereal but I like a hot breakfast before all that walking but I can't eat the enormous meals they have there. They will sell the items a la carte at a cheaper price. So I was able to get one scrambled egg and an order of fried potatoes at a cheaper price than a full meal--which was 2 or 3 scrambled eggs, potatoes, sausage/bacon and toast, I believe.

Also--DD's favorite meal there has always been the grilled cheese which is no longer on the menu. However, if you ask them at the counter, they will still make a grilled cheese for you. :thumbsup2 I was extremely glad to not have to listen to her whine about missing the grilled cheese. :rotfl:

MNAmy. I'm looking forward to your trip report. Sounds like you had a great trip.

NMAmy, thanks so much! We LOVE Starbucks coffee, so looking forward to that morning already. We tried that restaurant for breakfast once, and really liked it, its kind of a nice hidden gem. Its also nice that you get a DVC discount there:thumbsup2 . thanks again!
