My husband and I were watching a show on the Biography channel about Doc Holliday and he suggested that a good Christmas present for him would be a few biographies about people from the Old West time period.
So I know that Christmas is still a long way off, but I am bound and determined to be done with my shopping by Thanksgiving (I say that every year and fail every year) so I thought that this was something I could knock out pretty quickly. I went to Amazon.com and there appears to be a ton of Biographies. As my personal historical interest is geared more to the South/Civil War or Women of any time period, I am clueless about what might be good.
So here is my question. Do you have any good recommendations for biographies about colorful characters from the Wild West? I got him Wyatt Earp: The Life Behind the Legend one Christmas, so he already has that one. Suggestions dont have to be from the whole Wyatt Earp/Tombstone group of people either.
Also, he mentioned reading something once about a judge back then who was really tough and famous. He didnt have a clue what his name was. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks!
