I never was but in the past few years I've gotten into it.

I actually got more into it after once at Church (Catholic) the Priest was basically saying that praying and manifesting are the same thing.
Prior to that I had thought "manifesting" is "bad".

Even with that new realization I still never thought crystals had "power" yet I was fine with the thought that wearing a cross neckless or carrying a rosary, or saint pendant had "power".

So now I'm about to buy some crystal beaded jewelry.

And I'm just curious as to if anyone else was into that kind of thing?

These are three very different things. I don't practice reiki, but I do practice another form of energy work that is pretty similar. I don't do anything with manifesting. I have some crystals but I'm not sure I'm fully on board with them.

Yes I realize they are all different things but they are often used together.

I am a Reiki practitioner. I was first introduced to it 22 yrs ago when I was going through cancer treatment. I went to a support center that offered it and it helped with some pain issues I was having, so it made me a believer. I wanted to be able to offer it to my own patients so I went through the certification process. Realistically it’s a little hard for a nurse to do in a hospital with a busy assignment (as you need a fair amount of uninterrupted time), but on a few occasions I had enough time to offer it to some people when other things weren’t helping. Had a significant thing happen once during a session that was rather astonishing to both myself and the patient, and another time something very significant happened during a treatment that a volunteer was giving to a patient. (Not going to get into the details of those here.) So I believe there is definitely a spiritual component to it. It’s been practiced as a form of eastern medicine for thousands of years, and involves energy being transferred from the healer to the receiver. Don’t get me wrong, significant things don’t always happen with every session. But sometimes they do. Most receivers relax enough that things like pain and anxiety can be lessened. People should try it as a complementary therapy if they want to see what it’s like. Some people like to do it prior to surgery when they’re worried, and oftentimes they doze off. You can ask at the surgical place if there is a Reiki practitioner on hand.

I’ve taken several Reiki courses and wish I could get more on board with offering it as a service. I love manifesting and follow Denise Duffield Thomas who has several books about manifesting. And I love my crystals. I’m honestly not sure what they all do, but I love the pretty colors and shapes. I have a beautiful Amazonite ring that really does bring a calmness to my life

I was introduced to it about 7 years ago when a cousin was talking about it but I thought it was woo-woo.
Then my sister did it a couple times and I was like hey whatever you want to believe in. Same with crystals. My sister started buying crystals and I thought it was a waste of money and honestly some of the stuff she bought was a waste of money when she didn't need to spend.
It wasn't until reiki videos came across my fyp because I do enjoy ASMR (which my sister thinks is weird lol so to each their own).
But since that which was 2.5years ago I've really started feeling like there are similarities between those types of things and my religion so I feel like there could be something to it.

I seriously doubt you find will any scientific basis for things like Reiki or those pink salt crystals emitting some sort of healing powers. Much of it seems like clever marketing to sell expensive sea salt. I don't really consider the spiritual guidance provided by any of number of established religions related to individuals who claim to have special/magical powers they can share with others.

Lots of people write books on various topics to express some opinion they have. Being published doesn't make their opinions valid and probably includes many things not things supported by reputable science.

Reiki can be very beneficial if you are open to it. A combination of acupuncture & Reiki helped my husband get off pain medications while dealing with a very painful spinal condition. He's not the woo-woo type, rather the stereotypical working class guy who has done physical work his whole life who was really looking to find some relief after going back and forth to Dr.'s & 2 surgeries over the years.
It helped him physically be able to move his body and stretch/do the PT exercises AND he weaned off the heavy duty pain meds. Sure it took work on his part, and wasn't a overnight cure but let me tell you - before & after him are two different guys.
A diligent, qualified educated practitioner can be a wonderful medical resource.

I experienced reiki while going through chemo 20 years ago. I was not familiar with it but it was recommended by my oncologist and offered by the cancer center that was treating me. I attended multiple sessions during my chemo and radiation. I found it to be helpful and would recommend it to others if it was an option.

I personally don't. This probably sounds pious, but I feel that manifesting goes against my personal faith so choose to not go into that line of thought , at least how I have heard it being practiced (ie - manifesting that the universe will give you what your heart desires if we think positively enough). It's something I've had to think about a lot with fertility struggles, and "manifesting" is very popular in that community but it's something that I personally do not choose to do. Praying, yes. Though that is a struggle at times when it feels like prayers are bouncing off the sky but it gives the glory to God rather than to the intangible universe.

I don't knock anyone who does this, though. It's just my own opinion that I adhere to, but if manifesting helps others and they do not think the same way then it's none of my business to judge :)

Being Catholic myself I don't ascribe to manifesting being a me creating it but rather God giving it which to me is practically the same as praying. And your thoughts really do affect your overall wellbeing.
It reminds me of that joke of the guy who prayed to God to let him win the lottery day after day and eventually Gold told him... you have to buy a lottery ticket...
You have to take action with your prayers is the point of the joke.

Yes, I'm Catholic and tried Reiki about 10 years ago. At the end of the session, the practitioner did an angel card reading. She pulled a card and told me that I was going to go back to work and have a new family member. I didn't believe in that stuff and laughed it off. I was SAHM at the time with zero intention of going back to work any time soon and my husband and I had zero plans to have another child. A couple of weeks later, my husband came home and told me that his friend was in desperate need for someone with my skill set and would be willing to allow me to have a flexible, part-time contract if I could help him out. I took the position and we ended up getting a live-in nanny to watch the kids. As I was driving in the car one day, I recalled what the Reiki lady had said and that it did come true. At that moment, I felt this overwhelming tingling sensation at the top of my head. I have learned that I was feeling the activation of the crown chakra. Since then, I have gotten the same feeling at significant times like when my grandmom died, and when I feel like the angels are sending me some guidance.

After this experience I developed a strong relationship with angels and my spirit guide or maybe it's my higher self. I even kept the white feathers that I would find in an angel jar. I'm still a spiritual person but I don't find reiki, chakras, angel readings, manifestations, etc. to be in conflict with my beliefs about God. The crystal thing still seems weird to me, but my daughter collects crystals and has studied their properties. There is some science behind it. I do believe in the power of prayer and manifesting, but I'm not great about practicing manifestation. I recently heard someone explaining prayer as asking for God's help. The reason we have to pray is because God gives us free will; Therefore. He, nor the saints or angels, can intervene unless we ask them to. And as the saying goes, God helps those who help themselves. I feel that manifesting is the universe matching the energy that you are projecting. If you live from a place of abundance, gratitude, and generosity; you'll receive the same.

Then why not just pray? Life in Christ is not making a list of all the things/circumstances we want, telling it to God and waiting for Him to deliver. It's the constant submission to His good and perfect will for us and growing in patience, forbearance, faith and trust. And as for our thought lives, well, we are instructed to think on "whatever is good and right and pure and lovely" and to reject toxic lies by "renewing our minds through the washing of the water of the word". :flower3:

Somebody is making a lot of money.
I know quite a few Reki practitioners who provide Reiki healing for free & the NHS in Scotland Uk recognise complimentary therapy’s as being beneficial to one’s wellbeing such as it’s actually available for free through the National health service.& not just Reiki reflexology etc too & other complimentary therapy’s
