Just testing the waters right now as I hope to solve my problem by disposing of my Marriott certificate on eBay, but in case I don't.....................
Is anyone interested in possibly trading a 7 night stay in a studio at SSR/BCV/BWV/VWL in May (up to 123 points) for a Marriott Rewards Category 6 certificate that can be used at any worldwide Marriott property (excluding the eight Category 7 resorts)?
I currently have a Category 6 Marriott Rewards certificate good for a 7 night stay between now and September 14, 2004. The certificate is in my name, but I can have it reissued in any name I wish. The certificate covers room and taxes at any available category 1 - 6 Marriott resort or hotel anywhere in the world (including Marriott Resorts and Hotels, Rennaisance Hotels, Courtyards, Residence Inns, Springhill Suites, TownePlace Suites - not including Ritz Carltons and Marriott Vacation Club properties). Where this certificate can be used is based upon the availability of reservations using reward points. Of course, if you pick a resort we can check availability and make a reservation before we agree to anything.
This certificate can be a great value if you are planning to spend a week in any of the category 5 or 6 Marriott Resorts. When I listed on eBay I checked availabilty for a few places and I could have reserved (with this certificate) a week in the Paris Marriott on the Champes-Elysees in the spring that would cost over $4,800, or a week on St. Thomas, St. Kitts or San Juan this spring that would cost over $2,500. These are just a couple examples of the hundreds of places this certificate could be used. So compared to 123 points at the going rate of $10 ($1,230) this certificate can be a great trade value for your DVC points.
We are going to be at WDW from May 26 to June 2 (7 nights). We were going to use this certificate to stay at the Marriott Orlando World Center but now we are thinking we'd rather stay on-site. We are DVC owners as well but needed to use some of our DVC points to cover a couple nights at DLP this summer so we didn't have points left for our Memorial Day WDW fix.
