Anyone in WDW now? How are the crowds this week?

We leave on Saturday :cool1: and I'm just wondering if the crowds are down at all this week as more kids went back to school after the 1st week of Free DDP. I'm planning on bigger crowds, but I can still hope can't I? :rotfl:

I leave Thurs and will be in the MK Fri.. I know crowds will be more than usual but still hoping for less..lol Have a great trip..

I am curious as well, we leave on Friday and I am thinking that surely the crowds are down some from last week since more kids have gone back to school. I hope I am right!

I went to AK on Sunday. Arrived at the park around 2pm. The wait time for Kilamanjaro was 50 minutes. Everest had a ride malfunction as we got there. Fast passes had all been distributed. We fast passed Kilamanjaro and our return time was for 3:40. Overall, I felt AK was very crowded. On Monday we went to Epcot. We arrived 30 min before opening. The crowds were very thin. We saw the first show for turtle talk with crush. The show started at 10 and we got in line at 9:40. So after a 20 min wait we were seeing it. However, the line behind us was atrocious, and those people had a HUGE wait. World Showcase remained empty until about 1:30.

Hoping for the best, but prepared for long waits!

We'll be arriving at Pop this Sat.!

We were there 8/7 - 8/19 and it was very crowded, more than I've ever seen it. BUT, we did the EHM AM, Fastpasses and we did eveything we wanted to do!!! :thumbsup2

Just went on the WDW website to check hotel availability for next week thru Labor Day. There are rooms available in every onsite hotel except Coronado Spring (maybe becase of a convention). This includes all the Vacation Club Villas. Given this info hopefully next week won't be to crowded for you.

I am looking to go the last week of August next year, so I am interested in whats going on this year.

Coronado is hosting the "Tom Joyner" family reunion - Labor Day Weekend - that is why it is full.

I will be curious what we see next weekend..... anticipating crowds, but secretly hoping it will be quiet!

As popular as Crush is, I can't understand why they wouldn't start the shows as soon as enough people are in line to fill the room. Long lines and no fast pass, the least Epcot could do is start shows at 9:15. I don't mind less popular attractions opening later than the rest of the park but this one seems like it should be made more of a priority to get started.

I live in Orlando now and have been to disney the past couple of days. The crowds weren't as light as I'd hoped for this late in August but you could tell they are getting thinner. When you arrive at Epcot, make sure to get right to Soarin......there is a mad rush to get there and it's insanity! :rotfl:

Just back last night from our 8-15 thru 8-23 trip. Had a great time as usual. I thought the parks were very crowded last week and on the weekend. They were a little bit thinner this week, but still crowded. Went to AK on Monday and it was crowded. Then hopped over to MK and it wasn't as crowded as last week. Went to Epcot on Tuesday and it was really crowded in Future World. Went to the MK yesterday and it was still crowded, but the wait times were down a little.

All in all, the parks were basically crowded all nine days we were there, but with fastpasses we were able to do just about everything. We had so much fun eating at all the different restaurants because of the free dining plan and we just didn't let the crowds get to us. We decided early in the trip that the meals were the best part!!!

We're arriving at Pop this Saturday also (staying until Sept. 3). We used to live in MN, but now live in NE Wisconsin ... so HI neighbor :wave2:

This will be our 3rd time traveling to WDW the week before Labor Day. The first time was in 2002 and there were VERY low crowds. We also went this week last year (the first year of free dining) and the crowds were moderate.

We're expecting it to be busier this year than our other trips this week because so many have heard of free dining now and many schools around the US do not start until after Labor Day (that's the case for us).

Even if it is crowded though, we're in the happiest place on earth so we will enjoy!! :thumbsup2

I went over to MK yesterday after changing my plans of going to see the Doodlebops with ds at MGM.

We got to MK right after it opened, saw Goofy and Donald right up front, stopped at the Bakery to get a French Toast loaf, and then made our way back to Fantasyland.

It was empty. Wlaked right on Dumbo, Winnie the Pooh, Peter Pan and It's a Small World.

I think our 2 longest waits of the day were for the Speedway and POTC, both at 20 min.

It seems, from reading multiple threads on the boards that next week, expectations are that the crowds will be fairly low.

Just back from a wonderful trip (8/17-8/22).
Very crowded - and long lines. Use fast pass.
