We're moving back to Texas in about four weeks. I can't believe it's coming up so fast. I remember the first time we were stationed there. That's where I met my DH and now we're going back. Talk about coming full circle!

we are. I've been in Chicago, Des Moines, Orlando, Portland OR, Charleston SC, Memphis and now San Antonio (we are actually I bit north of the city). It's been great. I really love it here. We've had offers to go back to nearly all of the places listed above but we like it here too much to leave!

We live in Round Rock, about 1 and 1/2 North of San Antonio. Its SA is a beautiful city. You're gonna love it there.

I'm going to be visiting San Antonio in summer of 06 for the drum corp show there. I am excited to see this city for the first time! Any suggestions of MUST DOs?

Sea World, Fiesta Texas, the River walk down town, with the Alamo and river center mall. Tons of shopping, the zoo, Breckenridge park, schlitterbahn, splashtown, Fredericksburg, New Braunfels...have i left anything out? ;)

I have lived in NE San Antonio for almost 30 years. I am assumming from your post that your dh is in the military. My oldest dd26 is married to an Airforce Capt and they are keeping their finger and toes crossed that SA will be offered to him for his next assignment which is coming up in 2006.
Does your family live in the area.
If you have any questions feel free to PM me....

Yes, we'll be moving to Randolph!! We're looking to rent in Converse or NE San Antonio. We're going house hunting in two weeks. I hope your DD gets to come to Randolph, or at least, Lackland.
Thanks!!

Can I come and live with YOU??????

We'll probably be back there next year and will probably move to the NE side as well. Be sure and look in Schertz for housing.

As Chris knows well, our kids were at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic school there in Selma. It was probably the best education we could have ever hoped to give our kids. If you have school-age kids, you should check it out when you go. Principal Taubert is a retired AF pilot and does a great job. There are always dozens of Randolph families attending there.

Good luck on your move. We lived in Spring Creek inside the city limits and were not really pleased with the public school there. We also had a problem with crime in our neighborhood. Another good place to look is Garden Ridge.

Good luck on your house hunt. PM me if you need information about an area!

We don't, we live about 4 hours south of there, but DS was there for 3 years while he was in college. Must be a great city-he was too busy enjoying the city to do much studying. Finally we made him transfer out before he got kicked out. But to this day, he talks about what a great city it is and how much he enjoyed it (a little too much, we think!).

We found a house. It's in Selma. We're really happy with it. The schools seem awesome!! I'll post more later. Right now, I need to collapse!!
Night night!!

Grace--that's great news! Just watch out for those Selma COPS....they're HORRIBLE!

Oh, and slip in over at OLPH and tell the principal that when he's least expecting it...someone is really gonna get him!

Oh, and a song is coming to mind...

Come back to Texas
Its just not the same since you went away
Before you lose your accent
and forget all about the Lonestar State
Theres a seat for you at the rodeo
and I've got every slow dance saved
Besides the Mexican food sux north of here anyway!

Don't make me start       again!

Good Luck with your move. I didnt know that Selma had any actual subdivisions in the town, but all of the little towns sort of run into each other out there....I also vote for Garden Ridge, but it is very pricey....at least for this area....Dont get me wrong the area, houses, everything is so worth every penny but it is one of the more expensive areas.
Rafiki, I work very near your old neighborhood. I will pm you. I saw Fr. M today at Wal-mart.
Oh and it doesnt look like dd and dsil and family will be coming back to SA at this time....but they asked for easy to get to places from SA.
Randolph is a beautiful base....

The old Selma city hall where the speed trap police called home, is now a H :earseek: ters. ;)

yes it sure is a Hooters.... :earseek: It was a restaurant called Jailhouse Cafe, something like that for awhile, sat empty for a number of years and opened a year or so ago as a Hooters....It is packed every time I drive by....We havent been there.....When the courthouse was a restuarant they still had the old fashion jail cells there....My kids got such a kick out of sitting at the tables inside the cells, but it gave me the creeps.
