I will be in both place this week. I have about 4 hours on my on to wander the Times Square area and would love to know the great spots. I have been to TRU and the Statue of Liberty. I would love any Marshall's or TJ Maxx or other great shopping places with great priced clothes. I have seen Rockefeller center but I know there are not too miss stores around there and other things. It's suppose to rain all day so I don't want to be outside. Wish it wasn't and then I could do more sights and some photography like I wanted.

Tuesday, will have the whole day to fill in Hauppauge, NY. I wanted to hit the beach, but again rain is forecasted. Anything I can do indoors around there will be fun !

Also, Monday night in NYC. I need someplace fun to go with my DH once he gets out of work. Don't want to have to dress up for this, just jeans and nice top. Thanks !

You might try the Union Square area in NYC. There is a bigger inside shopping area around 6th avenue and 16th or 18th street with an INSIDE bed bath beyond, loehmann's and tj maxx or marshalls - I am blanking on which one. A few blocks away, there is a nordstroms rack (nordstroms type of outlet store). There is also a whole foods, dsw, forever 21, big barnes and nobles, etc. in that area. It is pretty easily accessible by subway.

I am assuming you are staying at the Windwatch in Happauge? I used to work at Computer Associates which is right across the street. There is a TJ Maxx in Islandia, not far from that hotel. Also, in Deer Park (you will need a car) is a new Tanger Outlet Center. Any place in Hauppauge is going to require a car. You are middle of the island there so you will need to get to the ocean if you want to hit the beach. Probably 1 hour drive but I can be wrong. I think the closest is Smith Point Park, even nicer beach is Cupsouge but that is West Hampton Beach and will take a bit longer to get to.

I will have a car, thanks so much !! Any idea's for nighttime activity in the city ?

There Max in Islandia which is about 5 min from Hauppauge

The closest beach would be Robert Moses on the South Shore of LI. It would probably be about 25 minutes. South shore beaches are much nicer than north shore...sound vs. the ocean.

besides shopping is there anything else you are interested in?

There's a TJ Maxx at 6th Avenue at about 20th Street. There's also a Filene's Basement in the same building.

I'm not too far from Hauppauge. I would hit The Arches in Deer Park. It's about 20 minutes from there. It's an awesome outlet center with a Christmas Tree Shop! Robert Moses is a nice beach. Have fun!

There was lots I wanted and planned on doing before I saw the pouring rain in the forecast.

Then my DS happened..... How can a little kid make you feel so guilty for going away. My DS's birthday is tomorrow and I was going to make cupcakes and send my mother in with them but he told me it just wouldn't be the same. he couldn't believe I wasn't going to be around to wish him a Happy Birthday and give him a hug and stuff. He really played it hard. he will be 7.

Needless to say, I'm not going anymore. DH is leaving in the morning and I will go with him next month when he goes again. He does go pretty much every month but usually has dinner meeting and stuff while there and tomorrow I would have had him all day except for 3 hrs.
