Anyone in here decorate cakes?

Again,

Can anyone fill me in on how to add pictures to my post? If so I'll have cake pictures in a post ASAP.

Linda

Do you know how to load them into Photobucket? From there you just click on the link that has and paste it into your post here. If you can't figure it out, PM me and I'll help you.

Thanks for the nice comments on my cake. I was swearing at 2am Sunday morning that I'd never decorate another cake again, but I'm thinking about taking some lessons now :teeth:

Linda go to a free picture hosting site like http://photobucket.com/ and create a free account. Upload your pics there. at the bottom of the picture will be various codes. Pick the one that says and copy & paste it into your post. :)

Or if you already have your pics hosted somewhere nd know the URL address, just click on the square button directly at the top of the box you are creating your reply, the button is second to the right & has 2 triangles that look like mountains and a sun (I guess.) It will bring up a pop up box to paste your pics URL into. Hope that makes sense. :)

Now let's see some cakes!!! I love this thread. :cool1:

Next weekend I'll have one to post. It is Mo's birthday and it will be a High School Musical cake. The "plan" (which doesn't always go as planned) is to have the bottom tier star shaped. I'm going to paint that with gold luster dust. Top tier will be 2 6" rounds that will be covered in burgundy fondant. I'm going to do the fondant like a curtain around the top tier. Gonna do MO in High School Musical lettering and use dragees like stage lights. Then do white fondant balls around the star like stage lights.

I'm thinking about taking an edible marker and signing the edges of the star tier with the autographs of the High School Musical stars.

We'll see if it all works though...that is a whole other ballgame.

I can't bake to save my life ;) but my neighbour made my sister an AMAZING cake for her 18th birthday:

It was 2.5 feet tall. The bottom layer is over 14" wide!

I didn't get to eat it because I had to go back to college early the next morning. Apparently it was half chocolate cake, half white cake.

Okay, here goes my first attempt at posting the pictures of the cakes......

didn't work.....I'll try again!

I am new to this post. I have been doing cakes for about three years. Here is the last wedding cake I did. (I hope.)

I've been wiped out the last few days :)

I wasn't happy with my cake but I'll post a picture.

The frosting wouldn't crust so I couldn't get it smooth. I read later that it was probably due to the high humidity. That's probably true since I've never had a problem when I made the cakes in February.

My flower cutters were too large, but that's all I could find.

I also had the two tiers level using cardboard shims, but the top ended up leaning anyway.

Still...the cake was made with lots of love (and it tasted great too). The raspberry filling was delicious!

I hate it when the frosting won't crust...makes me crazy!! I think it is great for your first tiered cake, by the way....but I am always so hard on my cakes, too. You get that picture in your head, and you want your cake to be perfect!

Sorry takes me to a member sign in page...no cake

Dang it!

Boy, and I thought making wedding cakes was hard! I can't get this picture thing to work!!!!!!

I had trouble too! I had to go to Photobucket and open up an account there. Nothing else worked for me.

Also, my 2 cakes are only the second and third I have ever done. My first was a simple one layer wedding cake covered with white fondant for a surprise shower for a friend at work.

I had SO much fun making these cakes, and at the party someone asked for my business card! When I went into the cooler at the hotel to get the flip flops, one of the chefs said to the Manager and I "Did you SEE this cake???" I replied with a smile..." I MADE that cake!" It was so cool to be complimented by a professional chef on my beginner cake.

That's odd, I'm able to see your album & pictures. Maybe it's because I'm still logged into Photobucket from my own account. :confused3
