Anyone in here decorate cakes?

I love looking at all your cakes, they are adorable! My daughter is having a pool party this year for her birthday and I would love a cute cake, but I just can't see paying what the bakeries charge for a cake like the ones you all do.

Keep up the good work, they are sooo fun to look at!

Those look great! I haven't been to this thread in so long! I have a dinosaur cake to do...its been awhile since I've done a cake.....

Would you guys recommend the Wilton cake student kits you can buy at Michael's for someone who just wants to begin decorating cakes as a hobby?

For a four year olds birthday...my first cake that I've done in months (like over 6 months). Its ok...

I'm so jealous of this cake. It's fantastic.
thanks carys.

Here is a cake that kept me up all night making all the little balls for the boarder. You can't really tell from the picture but it had a tail coming out of the back of the bottom tier. This is the biggest cake I've made and it was pretty heavy.

Your rubber duck in the bathtub picture is adorable too!

My friend is a big rainbow/peace sign fan so for her 19th birthday I made her a simple but fun cake!

I was so nervous after I pulled the two cakes out the top of them were a golden brown. I was so worried that I either: A) cooked them too long. B) I messed up the food coloring or C) all of the above.

These cakes are gorgeous!!!

I can't remember if I've posted this before - my friend Anne left advertising to start a full-time career as a pastry chef, focusing on cakes. Her business has really taken off huge in the last couple of years. I love surfing over to her site and checking out the cakes from time to time. http://www.pinkcakebox.com/

This is my current favorite one ... it changes a lot!:

I've seen her on Food Network--she is VERY talented!

I haven't looked through the entire thread yet. I am making 2 cakes this month for my children's birthday party. So I am wondering if anyone has made a Marie (from the Aristocats) cake before. I would love some inspiration. Also, my son wants a star wars cake, and though I have something in mind, I would love some inspiration for that too.

Subbing......been looking for this thread for a while now.

:lovestruc I just love the cakes. I'm dreaming of the day when I have time to take a decorating class.
