Anyone impacted by the oil leak in the Gulf?

And you really dont believe that the "wind and solar" people won't be ???

Oh come on, it's just a different group of people ruining things and gettn rich.

Ain't say'n this oil thing aint bad, it's friggn horrible, I agree its really sad and believe it's gonna change things for the worse, at least for a long while, for everyone. Just wish they'd get that gusher stop'd !!

(just my opinion,,just like that was your opinion.)

Sadly Frank, yes, I too believe that the "wind and solar" people will also be after greedy politicians. The only bright spot would be that if the wind turbines fell over or the solar panels slid into the ocean they wouldn't create such a large, devastating mess as this oil does. We will never be totally without the need for oil..but we need to start finding ways to use less, hence less drilling. Well, I will get down from my soap box now. I know we all wish the quickest solution for this problem.

this is indeed a very sad situation. I feel for everyone that directly and indirectly makes their living from the fishing and tourism industries in the gulf. the economic fall out from this could be tremendous not only by the local economies but also the national economy - we all all know what $4 gas did to the discretionary incomes and the economic consequences for the national economy. I'll leave the drilling debate for others, but the thought of the beaches being covered in oil are very sad for us, we were fortunate to visit tampa and panama city last year, it could be many years before the beaches regain their pristine beauty they have now.

I'm so concerned about what this will do to the beaches, the fishing, economy & wild life I have lived on the Gulf Coast most of my life. I just hate to think what it will do. I have family members who make a liven fishing. It's horrible! I think there will be a dramatic effect to the economy around here. We had a very good Spring Break and were antisapating a great summer but with this, even if we don't get it bad are you going to want to eat seafood or go swimming in the Gulf after all this? This area looks forward to the beach tourisum its going to be tuff, I hope BP had deep pockets! Get's it fixed asap!

Update! Bay News 9 8 o'clock update just reported we could see oil by Wednesday in the Tampa Bay area. Yikes!!

My kids are vacationing on the gulf coast on Anna Maria Island, (south of Tampa), and they just called to tell me that they watched the same thing on the news. That the oil could be there by Wednesday.:sad2:
This is bad news for gulf coast tourism...gonna be bad. I know Bob and I won't be making the trip we planned for later in May, if this is the case.

I can not believe that BP..did not have a contingency plan in effect should something like this happened.
Where ...is our governement in all of this.:confused3 Do we just wait for BP to come up with a way to stop it...while the tourism and fishing industries suffer. Hmm...will any of these folks get bail outs?...
Yeah, right.

My husband and I are watching the situation very closely. We are spending three nights in Destin on our return from WDW. The RV resort has a no refund policy on deposits. We hope that we don't have to spend the three days just looking at the gulf. They showed this morning on GMA that "traffic" had slowed down on the beaches and it had impacted the prices of oysters and shrimp already. I just don't understand why they took so long to think of plan to fix it/stop it. Like someone said "didn't they have a contingency plan for something like this?"
