Anyone here who loves WDW more than their kids do?

I TOO read that question wrong. That has got to mean something!! My DS and I are the WDW lovers in our family, though we are quickly making DH a fan. We were talking about going to see finding Nemo and I dismissed the idea he might like to see it. He came back with, "Well its a Disney movie", of course I want to see it. YES. We will win.

Yep, do love DS more than WDW but sometimes I wonder why???

I'm ADDICTED to DISNEY!! My 21 year old son tells me and I agree! We go with our kids(29, 27 , 21 ,19, and in-laws) in July! Last year we went by ourselves DH, and I in Dec. and stayed at WL. Well, we are going back in Dec. no kids! I do vacation calenders, with my Disney printshop, maps. make surprise bags for grandkids, convert garage sale money to Disney Dollars for kids, I am on these boards, every evening!! Planning next trip before this one gets here! I can't stop! Is there a Disneyholic meeting I can (should) attend!

Our family of four has been several times. On a scale of 1-10, my 20 yo DD is a 5 on the WDW fan scale, 17 yo DD is about a 6, DW is a 9.5 & I'm simply obsessed!!! I don't know, like maybe a 100!!! :teeth:

I will admit I did read the question wrong at first.

At times I like WDW more than my kids, well my oldest anyways.
If it's a choice WDW or my kids, well then I guess I'd have to keep the kids.

DH is the biggest Disney freak and then 7yr DD, then me
our 15 yr old would rather clean the house than go to WDW one more time. She has asked that we not bother renewing her ticket when it comes time.

KIDS!

Gone Disney

Amazing another post for the evening that has hit home.

Just tonight while doing my get in Disney shape walk with my reluctant DD14 at my side I was hit with the question "Who could I leave this ungreatful child with and what could I spend her share of the vacation money on!"

I know my kids have never been and really they have no idea of what they are in for (or at least I have to believe that to be the case cause how else could they be taking it so lightly!!). We've never really taken a vacation like this. I keep trying to discuss things with them and they just don't want to hear about it..."Mom, I am graduating from Jr. High (you would think she was going to college next year) in two weeks...Disney isn't for two months yet!"

I DO, I DO!!!!!!! Sometimes I think they just hummor me, and talk about it. I think about our trip about 17-18 hours a day. (Gotta sleep sometime;) ) I just LOVE it there, I forget about all the HOME stuff and just enjoy, there is no other place like it.

I think we may be entering the ungrateful child phase. We just returned from two weeks, our 7th trip since Sept. 2001. It was fun and relaxing, but we are getting a little burned out on the rides. The parks still have plenty of charm, but when you have a 12 yo DD that you have to bribe to get going in the mornings, and who would rather be on the internet in the room (or sleepnig in) than out and about at WDW (though she still liked shopping, pin trading, and the pool), it's a little stressful. We actually left her to go eat a couple of times, and brought her back some food. Picture this, we're watching Illuminations from our BALCONY at BCV, she can't be bothered to leave her computer. Now I'm considering cancelling our Mom/daughter trip in August. I have to take her to Vegas the week before for dance Nationals, and money will be tight. I'm thinking maybe she needs a year or two away, but I will miss it! Our AP's expire at the end of August, we aren't renewing, and I have a coveted studio at BCV booked. Wonder if I could ever be forgiven if I go alone? Diana

Me,Me,Me,Me! My kids have been so often that they grumble when I mention going back! And DH is threatening to sue Mickey for Alienation of Affection! Twice a year all 6 of us go, and then once or twice some of us go...DH will just stay home, and I will take 2-4 kids with me. My older daughters are teens, and we let them go off within the same park as us with a cell phone and money for lunch, although they always manage to"find"us at lunchtime. We started a tradition last year of taking 14-year-old and several friends to WDW for her birthday, and are already planning for 2nd daughter's WDW birthday bash in 2004. We have also extended the offer to a good friend's 2-year-old, so I have trips planned well into 2014! Not too long after that, I should be taking my not-yet-born grandchildren, of course. And my DVC points are good until 2042(or 2041if I don't stop borrowing:( )Seriously, I am a big enough person to admit I have a problem, but there are much worse ones to have. I spend about the same amount of money on AP's for my family each year as my BIL spends on cigarettes, and I hope to live longer. Because my parents never took me or my siblings to Disney, being able to take my kids is important to me, though I am sure not everyone feels the same way(which explains those weird looks I get from relatives and friends when I am planning another trip). And I aways smile when someone says they will never go back, or they just returned from a "once-in-a-lifetime" trip to Disneyworld...my chances of getting a fastpass to TestTrack and a date to eat breakfast with Cinderella improve on slow days:p

I am the definite Disney Lover of the family! We went for 8 days and stayed at the WL Thanksgiving 2002. We had a great time. It was the first trip for my DS (14 & 9) and they really enjoyed it. My youngest will go on vacation anywhere there is a nice pool.

I recently started talking about going and staying at BC or BWI for four days in March 2003 when they have a school break. Nobody wants to go except my DH and he's waffling on the whole idea! My kids did love Epcot and I thought we'd stay at one of the nearby resorts and enjoy more of the non-park extras, but they still aren't interested. If we can swing it, I might try to talk DH into just the two of us going, which would be fine with the kids, and enjoy some of the nicer restaurants.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who enjoys it more than their kids!

YES and I'm proud of it too! I use my children as an excuse to go to WDW but I have more fun than they do , and they still love it.
Next year we are spending two full weeks in February there, going back in July-August for another 2 weeks ( girls only trip ) and then going back in December for another 7-10 days. You bet I will love every minute of it.

Can I go, huh? Can I, can I, can I?! and that's just MY question!

My family thinks I am nuts, but as an adult that grew up watching Wonderful World of Disney on Sunday nights, and watching the opening of WDW on tv, there is no more magical place on Earth! My DH and I both walk in the gate of MK and just stand at the end of Main St. and look at the castle. It never fails to move us, take us back to our childhood, make us feel young again!!! Our DS (13 & 16) don't go around with us anymore because we embarass them (which we really enjoy), but DD is only 5 so we act more like her! :earsgirl: I remember watching the opening of WDW on TV in the early 70's, and thinking to myself Someday I am going there. Even though we have been numerous times, every trip feels like the first, and every other day I say to myself, Someday I am going there!!!

Wow! I am so glad I am not the only one. My husband likes it, but is by no means in the same universe of obsession that I am. My kids are getting there, but even they get tired of Mom's obsession sometimes. My 7 year old just said the other day,"is that all you listen to" talking about my Illuminations/Tapestry of Dreams CD. But it was his idea to email Disney about bringing back the TOD parade. So maybe there is hope!;)

Count me in on this! DH is a WDW fan too, but I'm totally the planner aka the "obsessed one". DH is VERY EASY when it comes to traveling to WDW. All I have to do is say "I think Mickey is telling us to come on down" and he'll start pestering me "Did you book it yet?"

DS is a future WDW addict but I really think his WDW obsession is the food.

DD can take or leave WDW . . .she's missing the WDW gene I think. Although her attitude was heading towards a TINK obsession this past trip. I guess there is some hope on her receiving the WDW obsession gene by the next trip.

Oh yes, I am way more obsessed with Disney World than the rest of my family (although little DS who is almost 4 is working on it!). I get the rolling of the eyes from DH and older DS (15), but they are just as bad as I am -- they just won't admit it.

We didn't get to go last Christmas (our suppose-to-be annual trip time), and afterward, older DS told me that next year ('03), he didn't want any Christmas presents. I asked him why, and he said, "So we can go to Disney World!" DH is always saying that he is ready to go to Disney World!

And, I swear, I don't coach little DS, but he'll tell his daddy something about "when we go to Diz Worl" this-and-that. I just have to laugh!

December cannot come soon enough!

It's been awhile since I started this thread, but I'm glad to see it's back with a vengeance.:D My planning is going into high gear now that it's getting close to our trip and DD just rolls her eyes and says "Mom, you need to get a life".

She is absolutely missing the WDW gene.;)
