Hi all,

I love watching Wimbledon!

Great coverage on our TNT network here, but just a tad too many commercials!

Wish I could attend some matches in person someday!

Herc.:D :D

I will be watching as and when I can. Although I have to admit that I don't find tennis as exciting as I used to anymore.

I have tried to get tickets to Wimbledon for the last 5 years with no success. It's almost as difficult as winning the lottery, LOL!

Enjoy!

I've been watching (on BBC TV in the UK - no commercials :) ).

Although my interest fell slightly when Anna Kournikova got knocked out of the womens singles :(

Hi,

The seeds are dropping like flies!

Annemarie, I didn't realize it was so hard to get Wimbledon tickets.

Herc:D

Hi Herc

I couldn't imagine having to watch Wimbledon with commercials, it must be so frustrating if they cut the programme at a vital stage!

I am quite upset at Sampras and Agassi going out, they are two of my faves - I know Tim Henman is British and I hope he does well, but he doesn't quite have the 'charisma' of Agassi or the good looks of Sampras! ;)

Do you think maybe I'm watching tennis for the wrong reason? LOL!!!

...... we watch it when we can here too!
I think I'd get fed up if the coverage was interrupted by adverts!!

Hi everyone,

We are so used to watching televised sports with commercials I guess we are totally used to it.

It is not so bad...ads are between games, and longer ads between sets.

Did anyone see the Williams sisters play doubles today? Awesome.

How would you like to be netman when one of them is running up to crush one by ya at l00 mph. Jeez!

Hi,
We were lucky enough to get tickets for Friday 28th and saw Anna in the flesh (well ok she had her tennis kit on!!!)wow!!
Also saw Phillipousis,Serena Williams (Luv her mums new hair do!!!)Capriati,Mauresmo and also saw Rusedski on the big screen.
It was a brilliant day worth every penny.

Mick.

Hi everyone!

It's quite a shame that HBO no longer holds the contract for Wimbledon coverage in the US. You could watch it all day on HBO and then all night on HBO 2. Now it is terrible! there is not enough coverage.

I was in Birmingham UK last year, and I must say I really enjoyed the BBC's coverage. I see the commentators talk during the match now. Years ago they didn't.

The only time I was able to enjoy Wimbledon was when I went to the Museum there. Cried none the less.

Maybe I will spend $100 one day to see the match. That's how much they cost if you purchase them from a travel agent who sells Wimbledon and other grand slam packages.

Yeah, Mick must have really loved seeing Anna! That is the way I felt when I took a look at Sampras' legs when he won the US Open final in 90' - Too hot!!!!!!

OK back to reality.

LOL Purrfecta :) !
I've been really enjoying having John Macenroe and to a lesser extent, Chrissy Evert joining our commentary teams, which shows there's less for them to do on the US coverage. ( Not US but thought I'd just say Boris Becker is extremely good at commentating too).
( I think I heard that Macenroe is hosting a TV prog here soon - hmm, interesting)

I'm looking forward to the match today - if it doesn't rain that is, it hasn't stopped up here in Manchester but hopefully the weather is better down in London.

Hewitt really had to fight to win yesterday didn't he? It gives just a little more hope that may this year Tim will do it! :D

As a lipreader I must say that Hewitt has a foul mouth! I always thought I would like to see Tim be more agressive, but heaven forbid he ever reaches the levels to which Hewitt has descended!

I really enjoy Wimbledon a lot more these days, as they subtitle all the matches. I remember writing to the BBC 3 years ago complaining that their coverage should be subtitled so I like to feel I played a part in getting the service provided - it is great to 'hear' all the commentary, I never knew what I was missing before, you find out some great information about the players don't you! :D

Shirley,

Did you say Boris Becker?????? :p mmmmm! Would have mentioned him last night, but think the husband would have been a tad concerned seeing my face turn 20 different shades!!! Always thought he married the wrong woman.
I have never seen him commentate. Does he in Europe?
Maybe you and I can get together and go to Wimbledon next year, and have Becker be our personal Commentator!

Yeah, I am American (whatever) so I have been given the great gift of Mc Enroe and Evert from the time I was young. I was thinking the other day that that generation of players never seem to go away. They just go through metamorphosis. Other commentators include: Navratilova, Mary Carillo, Patrick Mc Enroe, and now Courier has even joined the band wagon even though he is a bit younger than the rest.

I think it is wonderful that the BBC has decided to go ahead with CC. Working with special education children has made me see the value of CC. Just don't know why they didn't do this earlier!

Yes, I read lips too, and Hewitt does have a filthy little mouth doesn't he!

Hi all,

Just thought I'd let you know that the weather here in London today is far from brilliant. So far they have been on and off and latest I heard was one set so far but I won't spoil it by telling you the score!!!!

Mazzy, last night I was watching the doubles with the Williams sisters and I was getting a bit irritated as between shots they kept whispering to each other behind their hands and I thought 'oh for heavens sake whats that all about - its not as if we can lip read' guess they knew better (LOL);)
