I'm not there today. I was there all day Saturday and will be there tomorrow. I have several friends in the parks today. They're describing it as "moderate."
I think that 10am openings are wretched, and you're correct that a 9am MM is basically useless. Tuesdays also anecdotally seem to be the most popular day to use MM. 8am openings give you a couple of great hours if you're committed to rope drop, but usually the parks are crowded by 10. 10am openings just mean that all the people who would have arrived between 8-10 show up at once.
The Halloween stuff is crazy popular, so I'd say fairly high crowds are the new normal for Halloweentime. Additionally, the parties mess up normal crowd patterns. Also, the parks are simply consistently significantly more crowded than they were in 2013 and 2014. The 60th jacked up the crowds and they've never dissipated, basically.
Sorry about the crowds, but hope you're finding ways to have fun anyway! We like to take in more shows during high crowds.
