DH will be working in Ocala for extended periods a couple times in the next few months. Our stay coming up soon will be at least three weeks, so we're considering switching things up & staying in a boutique(ish) hotel or rental instead of staying in a chain hotel. The only promising place I've found so far on VRBO or Airbnb is Shamrock Inn. Their website states they're within walking distance of downtown. Looking through reviews, I've also read it's in a seedy area. We've driven through the downtown area on previous stays & definitely wouldn't consider the portion we've seen seedy or unsafe to walk around in at night. So, is the motel's location description of "downtown" very generous or is the "seedy" review inaccurate? If it actually is downtown, is it a reasonable walking distance to the restaurants & square?
PS: Suggestions for any other rentals, for an adult couple, in Ocala would be appreciated. DH will be working at a location off exit 352, but anything within a 15 to 20 minute drive would be fine.
PPS: I will be cross posting this on the Community Board.
