I'm curious about what other people pay for a clean house.

I'm in Mississippi. Today was my housekeeper's first day. She wanted $60. I wanted to pay her $1000 because my house is CLEAN FOR ONCE!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

So if you have a housekeeper, about how long does it take, what do they regularly do, how big an area do they clean, and about how much do you have to pay?

You don't have to answer if it's too personal...I'm just curious. It seemed like it was the best money I've spent in such a long time!

No, but I want a roomba - would it count? :goodvibes

I think you got a deal - I recall a neighbor of ours when I was young ('70s)would pay her housekeeper $60 to come in one day a week, vacume & dust the house, stuff all toys in the closets, wash down the bathrooms and kitchen.

I pay about $15 an hour, which is the going rate in my area.

I have her every other week for almost 4 hours. She does all the floors, bathrooms, kitchen top to bottom, and vacuums the whole house. She also picks up a little as needed.

The house keeper I used before her was much faster and more detailed in her cleaning. I paid her accordingly, so she got over $20 an hour. I miss her.

I live in South Central MA and I have had the same cleaning lady for 4 years. She comes every other week. She arrives 9am and leaves by 11-11:30am.
I started paying her $50.00 and am up to $65.00 a visit.

I may be cancelling her....I just built a new home and every time she comes to clean she is done sooner and sooner as there just is not that much dirt.
I keep up with it throughout the week.

I also choose white woodwork throughout the house and I told her to be careful vacumning as she is BANGING the woodwork... :sad2:

I have a cleaning lady every other week - $60 per visit.

House is 1400 sf.

LOVE the cleaning lady :goodvibes

Yep, her name is wendy and she looks just like me...we don't pay her though. Unless you count the odd change she finds in the washing machine...;)

I have a team of 2 a mother daughter that I like very much. They don't bug me. They work fast. I do no precleaning. I pay them 100 bucks and they are here as long as it takes. They don't do sheets or laundry which is the only thing I wish they did. They come weekly. If I could afford it I would have them come twice a week.

We just had our first visit from the cleaning service last Thursday. It was wonderful coming home to a spotless house!! We pay $70 every two weeks for our 1400 square feet.

We have one that comes in every Friday. She does all the rooms except for the kids bedrooms. They have to do their own rooms. I pay her $100 a week. She is here for approximately 5 hours each time.

We had Merry Maids. First time first was $80 for 2 hours. i had to pay extra for an extra half hour--b/c they didn't quite finish what i needed (first cleanings take the longest).

It was going to be $80 for once every 2 week service after that.
Our living space is ~ 1400sf (I think)

I have a cleaning service that comes every other week and I pay $50 each time. They work in a team of 3 and are here for about 1.5 hours if that. They don't make beds which I thought was weird. Is that normal? The bathrooms and kitchen are spotless but their dusting is lacking. I emailed them about the dusting so hopefully it's better next time. Merry Maids wanted about $120 each clean so I think I'm getting a great deal.

I pay $20 an hour - she comes in bi-weekly, more if needed. She does everything!
Some days I just want bathroom and kitchen cleaned - others I want the light fixtures, baseboards,or other stuff cleaned.

I love having her - it makes our lives so much easier

My parents have one. The house is around 4000 sq ft, and the housekeeper charges $75 to clean it every other week. There's a lot of hardwood flooring, so she swiffers/wipes them down; cleans the bathrooms and bedrooms; strips the beds; cleans the kitchen; vacuums; does the windows once a month; etc. It takes her around 3-4 hours to clean the whole house (depending on how much time she spends eating breakfast and talking to my mother). She does a pretty good job, but she sure is chatty, LOL.

We have a husband and wife team that comes every other week. They charge $60 and it takes them about 1 1/2 - 2 hours . They vaccum, dust, clean three bathrooms, do all the floors (kitchen, bathrooms, and we have hardwood in our upstairs hallway), wipe down appliances, clean sliding glass doors and entry way doors. It is so worth it to have all three bathrooms clean in one day! I know they also change sheets and make beds if you want, but I always do that myself.

We do as well. She comes once a week at $70 a pop. She not only does general cleaning (floors, bathrooms, windows, etc.) but she also washes any dishes we leave out and does our laundry.

Thats funny, mine maids name is Elaine, she looks like me and we don't pay her either!!;) I swear she is ALWAYS here too. It seems as though all that lady does is clean :rotfl2:
We really should start paying her!! $20 an hour seems reasonable : $20 x 24 hrs = $480

My DD and her DH do - me... :lmao:

I get paid in free sleeping quarters, lots of laughs, good company, and loads of hugs and kisses from my DGD every day.. :thumbsup2

However, "I don't do windows...." :teeth:

We have someone who comes every other week. We pay her $55. She's here from 3.5 to 4 hours.

She does everything except for laundry and dusting silk plants. She even dusts the baseboards every so often.

Actually, everyone else here is paying less than that for a real live person to come to their house for a few hours every week...what is wrong with me? I could afford the amounts I am seeing...why would I feel so wierd having someone come to my house to clean?

Seriously, I think that is really the problem...I would feel like I needed to clean before the housecleaner showed up.

i am so wierd.
