I'm at my highest weight ever, which is pretty depressing since I plan to do the Disney Half Marathon in January.
My downfall is the evenings, and afternoons at work.
Welcome!
Now please, sit down. We need to talk!

I have some friendly, "voice of experience" advice that I want to share with you. I am a runner as well. I have done countless 5K, & 10K races, as well as 2 half marathons and a full (yes, of course, it was the DISNEY.

) You need to make certain that you are feeding your body the proper fuel for training. If you happen to lose a few pounds along the way - BONUS!
So what does that mean???? EAT. Eat lots. BUT - lots of the right things!Protein. Lots of protein. Morning, noon, snacks, night....make sure you eat often (5-6 time a day) and make sure you are getting LEAN protein with every meal/snack. Whole grains, fresh fruits & veggies...and plenty of water.
Why eat so often? Because feeding your body a little bit more often will help keep your matabolism revved up. Think of a fire - throwing a few logs on a fire 5 or 6 times a day will give you a steadier burn than if you weigh it down with wood once a day and expect it to be burning 12 hours later. Make sense?
Try to spread your points out evenly - 1/3 for breakfast and a.m. snack, 1/3 for lunch and p.m. snack and 1/3 for dinner and evening snack. And do eat ALL of your points. With all that training, you are burning a lot of calories. I know it may sound crazy, but if you don't eat enough, you won't lose the weight. Honestly. Trust me on this one. Been there, done that.
Why protein? Running, although aerobic in nature, will help you build muscle, primarily in your legs. Your body needs protein to sustain the muscle you are building. My guess is your afternoon fatigue & "lower resistance" is your bodies way of telling you that it needs more fuel earlier in the day. Try to get lean protein in - egg whites, cottage cheese, protein shakes, lean chicken or fish...you know the drill, I'm sure. Fiber and protein.
Ok - I'll stop for now

It's the mother in me - I just can't help trying to prevent others from making the same mistakes I've made!
Speaking of mistakes - time for my confessional.
I GAINED 7 POUNDS OF PURE FAT! I had my body composition done at the gym today. My trainer was not happy (do you watch Biggest Loser? Well, she is Jillian!!!!) So. Back on the wagon for me. Time to practice what I preach!
