anyone here do WW without meetings or online?

Hi everyone. I have not been on here for awhile. It was a bad weekend for me. I had no self control. It was my son's 5th birthday yesterday and there was cake everywhere! That's all I'm gonna say about that! :rotfl:
But today is a new day! A new week! We can do this! :cool1:

I am starting to really get discouraged. I started out great with a 4 lb. loss the first week. Since then I've not done near as well. This week I lost a whopping .7lb. -- not even one whole pound. The pounds are just melting off of my DH and he has such determination. He got up Sat. morning and ran. I just don't have that drive. I need some inspiration.

hey mom0299- don't get down on yourself. And try not to compare yourself to your husband. Weight comes off of men SO much faster than women. Are you doing flex points?
Good luck.

Mom0299, Have you seen the cartoonish commercial(I think it was for a diet pill) where the lady is say she gave up soda she lost two lbs, her DH gave up soda he lost 10 lbs. That's how I feel too. Men can lose weight so much quicker! I know it's not fair! But you will get there!:groom:

Hi all- I weigh-in tomorrow. I only used 11 of my flex points. I would love a treat but don't want to splurge one day before weigh-in. It is my first week so I am guessing I will have a five pound loss. That is my M.O. for the first week usually.

Good morning, everyone! I could have sworn that I posted on here yesterday (shortly after Princess Michelle's post), but I can't find it now. Probably means there's some insane rambling of mine floating around on the community board somewhere instead of in this thread where it belongs. :rotfl:

I haven't been on the scale since the 15th and won't weigh again until next Monday. I've been logging points this week (impressive that I've managed to write everything down for two days in a row), and I just spend 70 minutes on the treadmill. DH & I made a pact that I can't talk to him in the morning until after I've exercised. That's so difficult for me because he leaves before I'm up, and I always call him after I drive DD to school in the morning. Gotta do this thing, though. I calculated my BMI yesterday and went :scared1:  :scared: :sad2: .

Keep up the good work everyone! We'll all get there if we can just focus on one day at a time. :)

Hi everyone

I joined weight watchers last week after gaining 25lbs this past year. Hopefully it's working so far - first weigh-in is tomorrow. :cheer2:

One questions maybe you can help with. If I want to end up with one cup of cooked pasta, how much dry pasta should I put in the boiling water? I know pasta will expand so it shouldn't be a full cup. Is it more like 3/4 cup?

Thanks!!

I am not sure- It seems to grow to at least 2x its size. You could try 3/4 c and then just measure the cooked pasta before you eat it. I am guessing you would get about 2 cups cooked pasta from 3/4 cup dry.

Thanks for the encouragement. I actually feel much better about things today. I am back on track and I know it's going to be a great week!

Anne

I weighed in and lost 4.5. :thumbsup2 I had 20 flex points left as of yesterday morning (last day of my WW week) and I treated myself- to a taco supreme and 4 Twizzlers. I totaled 28 points for yesterday. So I still didn't use all my flex points for the week- I let about 11 expire. It is a new week and I have a new batch of Flex points-I am going to spend a few on the weekend- I am going to try to let the rest expire, or save them for an emergency. In general I have been finding it pretty easy to stick to about 22 points per day. But I am only on day 8.
Good luck to everyone today!:thumbsup2

Congrats on the weight loss everyone!

I lost another 2 lbs. this week for a total of 6 lbs. in two weeks. That seems like a lot but when I still have 100+ to go, it seems like a big hill to climb. I think I need to set smaller goals for myself and work toward them. Maybe my progress will seem more inspiring if I can hit "goals".

I haven't started exercising yet, but I plan to get back on track with that. We leave for DL in less than 1 month, and WDW in 9 weeks, and I need to be able to walk the parks.

I had a good week - didn't really use any flex points, just my daily allotment. Yesterday for lunch we went to TGIF and I really wanted the fried green beans. So I bought the 3 course lunch and had the green beans, broiled mahi-mahi with broccoli (didn't eat any of the rice) and brought the dessert home for my DH (Cinnabon cheesecake). Last night we celebrated my DD's birthday (8) at the restaurant of her choice (Hooters). I knew there was no way I could eat those chix wings, so I had the broiled grouper with a tossed salad (lite ital dressing). I pushed the bun away. I did try one very small bite of the choc. cake and one very small bite of the cheesecake. Since that is all I ate yesterday, I think I did ok.

Her actual birthday is Thursday and we are planning dinner at home. Her favorite dinner is Market Day chix. parmesan and Market Day twice baked potatoes. The chix. should be 5 or 6 pts., (don't have slide with me); the potatoes are only 3 pts. and they are quite yummy. With a 0 pt. veggie it should be doable. Luckily she wanted a cookie cake for her birthday at home, and I don't like cookie cakes!

Sorry for the long post, I think I need to check in more often.

Hey Disneyeveryyear- I think setting small reachable goals is a great idea for you.

You dd sounds so funny picking Hooters for dinner.:rotfl: Anyway- I just wanted to say that I had a really good dinner one night, that was buffalo wing inspired. I boiled small trimmed bonless breast in water- then drained and simmered in Ken's wing sauce on low for a long time. Put them in the fridge till chilled- then served over salad greens with Light-done-right blue cheese dressing, and celery sticks. It was so good WITH 4 OZ CHICKEN and 1 TBSP of dressing it is only about 6 points- it was so filling and tasty. I added a little Splenda to the wing sauce to give it a little sweet tangy flavor.

I agree with smaller goals. I need to lose over 50 lbs and I am setting a reward for every 10 lb loss. Small rewards at first and then the biggest for last (ie a manicure for the first and a tatoo for last).

I am way off track this week. A few things have been happening here and unfortunately I am a emotional eater.:guilty:

Congrats on all the losses!!:wizard:

I'm on the reward system myself. I have my *official* weigh-in tomorrow, so I'm holding my breath to see what happens. I don't have much left to lose, and it's getting harder with each pound that needs to go. So, now I'm going to reward myself for sticking to the plan without cheating for 2 weeks. It's a modest reward - a pink hoodie sweatshirt! :cheer2: :cutie: :cheer2:

I'm an emotional eater too and when I feel stressed or upset with my DH I head for the kitchen. I try to recognize why I'm eating and to try to do something else - sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. I didn't do this before we had kids - I used to talk about it but I don't want to argue in front of the kids (at least not too much) or say not so nice things out of frustration at their father (while they're in the room) so I just eat!

Good luck and hang in there!

Thanks for the support everyone. I like the idea of setting goals and setting specific rewards at the same time. Good idea.

Your chix sounds yummy! There is a recipe in one of our WW cookbooks for buffalo chix. It does sound good on a salad and I love bleu cheese with it! That would be a good idea for dinner one night!

I thought it was pretty funny that my DD8 (today is her b-day - so my "baby fat" is officially 8 years old today too!) picked Hooters. The funniest part was that all she ordered for dinner was french fries!

I have been an emotional eater all my life too (thus 100+ pounds to lose). Either my life has been fairly calm lately, or I am not feeding my feelings this time. Maybe I have learned how to handle it:rotfl: .

The one thing I have been doing is as soon as dinner is over I fill a big glass with crushed ice and water and put a straw in it. I drink so much more water when I have a straw (don't ask me why). I also stay out of the kitchen.

Last night I did have some light ice cream, but I had the points left, so I treated myself.

Good luck with the emotional eating. I know how very hard it can be.
