Anyone heard of Ketchup Powder?

I was in 6th grade the first time I relized Ketchup came in a powder form. We all had to volunteer in the Cafeteria for 1 day (something about making us appreiciate the workers more) the lunch lady put me in charge of mixing the Ketchup and gave me a huge tin can of red powder. I have never looked at ketchup the same since.

Ewwwww, reconstituted ketchup?!?!? I don't think I could look at ketchup the same way either after that!!!

Okay Kimya, I went on a preliminary scouting mission today and this is what I found out:

The price has really jumped since the last time I bought them!

I found ketchup flavor at Blockbuster (3.99 each!)
I found all-dressed and salt&vinegar at Zellers (3.29 each)

I couldn't find the dill pickle flavor at either place.


So I will leave it in your hands to decide what you want to do....perhaps mommasita can find them for less where she is???

Either way is fine with me, just let me know!!!

I saw ketchup powder in a tour of a potato chip factory.

They actually gave us ketchup flavored chips as a sample.

I know it exists, but I'm not sure if it is widely available.

I saw the same episode of degrassi and was wondering the same thing about "Ketchup Powder" Canadians are weird! Haha J/K.
