DH and I are starting to look into wireless internet services so that we can check our office e-mail when we are on vacation or camping.

Does anyone have an recommendations for services? Looks like Earthlink has a pretty large coverage area.

Thanks.

Check with your cell phone company. Many of them offer wireless internet on your cell phone for only about $6-$7/month. I have it on my with Alltell.

Thanks for the advice. We were thinking of wireless for the laptop, but we looked into Cingular Wireless. It looks like pricing starts at $35 a month. Did you have to purchase software? Cingular is asking $2000 for some kind of software.

Sorry, I'm a bit clueless on this subject.

No, no software. BUT, this was internet on my cell phone. Not the lap top. Sorry, when it comes to laptops and wireless internet. I'm clueless.

DH has a SprintPCS wireless card, but paid for by his company. It's very very....very very slow. Since it's free to us, we kept the card, but only use it on extended vacations. I did a speed test on DSLReports.com, and it came out 40 kbs, which is slower than a 56k modem.

It's not the service, it's the technology.
