I know they are warm and comfortable and all of that, but how are they really in the snow? I mean, can you wear them as a snow boot or are they more for fashion? Thanks for any info you can give me. :wave2:

I don't wear them in a snowstorm but they do fine if there's snow on the ground. I find they're not great with slush though.

I wore them for most of our last long, snowy winter and they still look great. It's important to spray them with leather/suede protector very often.

Like princess pooh said, their good for the snow when its snowing, but, for slush or rain or even alot of snow they'll soak right through. We have the shoes and the boots, while there very comfortable and warm, they don't keep your feet from getting wet. And the shorter boots don't have good traction on the bottom. Mine get very, very slippery in the ice. My dd has the taller boots and the traction on them is great.

Thanks for the info, I will keep that in mind. I'm still going to get them, I just won't wear them in bad snowstorms!

i love how warm they make my feet in the winter cold. i've got the tall ones, without the super traction and they don't do well in snow or slush like princess pooh said. i sure love wearing them when it gets cold out though. i recommend if you are getting the lightest colored ones (sand), tuck your jeans in. mine have discolored because i didn't realize the wet jeans would bleed that much (i've washed the jeans numerous times, you think that'd do it!).

I've never heard of Uggs. I assume that this is a boot or shoe of some kind?

An FYI for you UGG fans, my daughter bought some last week at T.J Maxx for I want to say $79.00 for the tall ones.

I bought some generic Uggs, so I don't know if they are exactly the same, but mine are VERY war, but they are not water proof, so if they were to get wet, so will my feet. I can wear them in powdery snow. I got mine at Target---they were pretty inexpensive.

Not to bump an old thread...but I'm looking to get another pair of UGGS possibly
Would really like the sand color (I have a short Essential chestnut and a tall Classic yellow - from TJMaxx...heheh)

Which is more practical for the winter? A tall or a short classic? Love them both...but really not sure which to get. any opinions either way?

(even though they don't look it in the picture - they are the same 'sand' color)

I just got the exact short boots in your picture, Stinterbelle! I am still deciding if I want to keep the sand color or exchange for the darker brown. I definitely like the shorter ones, the tall ones just felt TOO tall one me. :confused3

Man, I am excited to wear these puppies once it gets cold around here!

Just a heads up--I have the UGGS pictured (sand color) I love the color, but they get dirty easy if it's the least bit muddy or dirty snow. I kept mine sprayed and they were hard to get clean. I never got them totally clean. :guilty: Next pair I will get the darker brown color. I like the short ones BTW.

I've worn my everynight around the house this week!
Like I said - I have the short in chestnut (essential...with the thicker lug sole)...and I have tall yellows...which just wrap your calf in warmness...but kinda bulky under jeans.

which is why I'm conflicted!

I do like the darker brown...probably won't get them as dirty as the sand...but they are much "clunkier" then the classic ones.

I have the short in sand and they do get dirty easily. I'm looking to get the long this year but not sure on a color. These babies are so warm and comfortable.
You know, you can always buy the suede cleaner and clean them if they get dirty. So I guess that isn't that big of a deal.

That's funny because DH was picking on me for saying they are great as slippers! I've worn them around the house all week deciding what color I want! They are sooo toasty! I think I'm going to exchange them for the darker color as the dirty factor with the lighter color is a good point! :)

Are ya'll trying to talk me out of the sand color?
hehehe
I guess the consense though is that "short with jeans" is better then "tall with jeans" ??(i dont' tuck my jeans...so that's not an issues)

The Chestnut - although doesn't look dirty - does look kinda "manly"

I'm also liking the olive color though...hmmmmmmmmm
(i own WAY too much green though)

I got the Ultra Short Sand on ebay for $60! I love them, but I won't be wearing them in the rain or snow because of the color. I am thinking about getting a pair of chestnut ones too. I really want the dark brown Sundance but I'm really short and don't wear my pants tucked in cause I feel like I look too frumpy so it's pointless to spend that much money and cover them up. I really want another pair though! In fact I just got my DS a pair of the booties since they are sooo warm and the heat will have to be set at like 50 degrees this winter cause we won't be able to afford it! :earseek: That was my excuse to my DH for getting my DS the booties! :rotfl2:

i agree with everyone on the sand colored ones getting really dirty. the toes on mine never looked the same since that one day last year when i decided to clean my car off after a huge snow fall. i accidentally kicked a piece of the blackish road snow off my bumper and the boot is now blackish on the toe. i think i also got them slushy wet at one point. i wish i could change the color of mine to that chesnut one. my sister has that one and i love it.

i also have the tall boots. i don't think i'd do without them, they definitely keep my legs fuzzy and warm in the winter. i wear them under jeans, but occasionally i'll tuck my jeans in when it snows or it's wet out. the jeans i wear with them are flared and sometimes hard to get over the boot, but i like it that way.

I have the Chestnut and Sand classic lows and I have the Chestnuts in the Ultra low. I have a pair of the tasman slippers as well. My mom has a pair of the brooks boots in brown and she really likes them in the winter slush.

How are your chestnut ones as far as stains and dirt etc? Do you wear them in the snow and rain?
