We have tickets on US Air for a November flight to MCO. Anybody else out there holding tix on a bankrupt airline?

What is your plan ""B" if the airline liquidates before your trip?

At this point I am confident that US Air will make it 'til the end of the year. If they don't I'm not sure what I will do as I live in Boston and it will take way too long to drive! I guess I would just cancel the trip and re-book for the spring.

We are going the beginning of December and at this point I've got my fingers crossed. Hopefully we may know more by October and if we have to fly another airline then I'll try either Air Tran or Southwest.
I booked our tickets using my Disney Visa and am confident that I will get a refund with no problem, but I got a rate of $116.70 round trip and I sure I will not get that rate with another airline. Right now AirTran and Soutwest have rates of $176.50 round trip.

I have tickets for my sister going 12/18 comming back 1/2 (not to Disney-to my house). I bought on USAir because it was the most convenient flight-not the least expensive. I don't have a back-up plan. I'm just hoping I can still get my money back if the stop flying.

I have tickets to fly to Orlando on 11/26 and return to NH on 12/5. Unfortunately, the flight I booked from Manchester to connect in Philadelphia is no longer on US Air's schedule. After some looking around on their web site I think I have found what flight they put me on and am not happy with the times but what are you going to do at this point. What I am ripped about is that they did not e-mail me to notify me of the change. I e-mailed them right after the filing when I realized that the flight number was gone. Their web site said to expect a reply within five business days - it has now been seven with no word. One more day for them to reach me and then the phone calls will begin - the arrival time is later so I need to change a couple of other plans if this new schedule is definite - the old one still shows in my itinerary too!

Seems like the last time a flew US Air they changed their schedule three times between when I reserved and when I flew - I should have remembered this a stuck with Southwest even if their flight times weren't as convenient. Now I also have to hope that they are still flying!

I have tickets for November also. I'm not too worried, as US Airways did already get concessions from the bankruptcy court to utilize a federal loan of 600million. Now, for flights next year, I'd be a little warry, but not too much. US Airways fully intends on not liquidating, but of course the court might have other ideas. In the end US Airways does go under before my flight, again I'm not worried. I bought my tickets through United, code share flight, so United will have to accomdate me. The flights might not be non-stop, but I'll get there with the tickets I already have.

I have tickets with USAIR for the first of December.
I am not to worried - they went bankrupt two years a
when we flew to WDW.

Pat'sMom - since they changed your flights you are entitled to a full refund.

Pat'sMom - Debbie is correct. You may want to look into this option.

Like you, I booked US Air because I liked their flight times better than flying SWA out of MHT. I will really miss US Air if they go under because they offered some great flight schedules from Boston. On the other hand, I would be hesitant to book with a carrier who constantly changed my schedule!

On our return last December, they changed our return flight and never notified us. We just happened to get to the airport 2 1/2 hours early and our flight was leaving in 20 minutes. We were able to walk right on.

Our TA at AAA called us the next day because she got a fax informing her of our change 24 hours AFTER the flight.

We have tickets again this December but there isn't much choice out of our small regional airport.

If you have troubles with US Air, Try either JetBlue or Song out of Logan.

My personal vote is JetBlue. Direct flights, gates at the center of the A side at Orlando and Direct Tv in the seats. Not to mention great fares!

Sorry somehow got added to this thread :blush::blush:

Hey all
Need some advice/feelings/etc

I have reservations booked at WDW for JAn and am going to buy airfare this week.

The two airlines that I wanted to fly was either southwest or delta song.

Here is what I am not sure of.
Southwest flys out of a local airport 40 mins. from my house, very convienent, no hassle to get there and cheap parking, but without assignned seating makes me concerned about getting three seats togtherfor myself dw and dd she is only 6 and this is her first flight, she told me that she wants mommy and daddy next to her.
Not afraid of flight down I can get there early enough to get first boarding group I believe but can't really do that in Orlando.

Delta song , have to drive into Boston/logan only about 30 minutes longer but more hassle. But the big thing is the Dalta is threatening bankrupsy themselves. If we lose those tickets a month out will not be able to get affordable tickets.

What would you do. Thanks in Advance Dave:blush:

FYI: The airlines will only give you a refund due to a schedule change of 90 minutes or more. Anything less, than you can pick another flight, but no refunds will be given.

As for USAirways actually ceasing operation, I don't think you have anything to worry about, short term. Anything prior to Jan. of '05 should be fine. These things take months to play out.

Get on the phone NOW! I would not use email for this. While you are waiting other people are calling and rebooking!

As for the other airlines... USAir is probably the riskiest by far. THey have filed twice in two years.. Makes creditors less likely to trust you. Delta may file, but... you can fly a long time in Chapter 11.

If you buy with a credit card you can get a refund. YOu can also fly standby on any remaining airlines with a $25 fee if your airline goes under.

Thanks for the suggestion about requesting a refund. I did finally get an e-mail from them today saying that I needed to call for assistance and am doing that tonight. I did manage to find an itinerary on their web site for my confirmation number - they changed my departure time from MHT from 5:30 am to 7:25 am. Connecting flight now arrives in Orlando two hours later than the original flight. I didn't realize that a change of schedule like this could be reason to request a refund. I thought I was just stuck. I can live with these times from US Air if I have to but I think before I call them, I'll check Southwests web site to see what's available in case I try for the refund.

Goofydad61 - we've flown Southwest out of Manchester to Orlando several times. Haven't had a problem with getting seats for three of us together. Out of Orlando we did find that we needed to get there early but now you can check in on line the night before - worth carrying a laptop to WDW. Any inconvenience from having to work with the seating on Southwest is definitely easier to deal with than Boston traffic. Fares would have to be a lot cheaper for me to even consider flying out of Logan.

Thanks again to those who let me know I might be entitled to a refund!

I booked USAir for our Dec. trip (12/2-7). A few months back, our return trip changed flight number and time by only 15 minutes. I was notified promptly by email. Last week, after reading a thread on these boards, I double-checked their website to see if there was a change in price. Instead, I found a change in the time for our departing flights, but still the same flight numbers, so I had no trouble recognizing them. Our return flights had disappeared altogether. I wrote down the new information and the specifics of the flight I thought (hoped!) we may have been rebooked on. The next day, I called USAir (made sure to tell them I was a Dividend Miles member). The first woman (Janey) I spoke with was very pleasant and confirmed that we had been rebooked as I suspected. She then transferred me to the "Reissues" dept. to inquire about a credit for the price discrepancy. The woman I spoke with there (Kim) was very rude and very clueless as to my travel information. I don't think she even bothered to look up my itinerary in the system! When I asked why I was not notified of the changes, she replied that this was "the agency's responsibility". I asked her what she meant by that and when she said my travel agency, I was happy to tell her that I had booked this itinerary directly with USAir, not through a travel agency. She back-pedaled, claiming they will not notify you of changes unless you are within the 90-day window before your trip. Then why did USAIR notify me months ago of a mere fifteen minute change?! Besides, I was quick to point out that I am *indeed* within that window. She cut me off several times in an obvious attempt to get me off the line, but promised that my credit vouchers would arrive in 3-4 business days. I am happy to say that they arrived yesterday.
I was a very satisfied, confident customer until last week. Beyond redeeming the vouchers, I'm not sure I will fly USAir again.
