Just wondering if anyone has gotten this for their children and what you thought of it?? Seems pretty cool

My son has asked for this item. It has pretty mixed reviews, I saw them either on Amazon or Toys R Us. Basically they said that the picture was dark, grainy, and hard to see. But I don't know this, just based on the reviews I've read.

I could not find out the screen resolution, which suggests that the resolution is somewhat less than an ordinary non-hi-def TV. Such resolution is commonly between 720x480 to 360(across)x480 (elongated pixels) depending on the TV set vintage and quality.

I would guess the Eyeclops resolution to be something like 320x240 or maybe 480(across)x360

When the picture is projected at the 70 inch or so maximum size as advertised, the shortcomings of the low resolution will be much more noticeable.

I believe there is a good chance your kid may get tired of it quickly, especially if he notices that a regular TV gives a much better picture including when playing video games.

Meanwhile it appears that the Eyeclops is at least safe for children to use without adult supervision. Just about any "gbetter" projector will have a projection light that can damage eyesight if shone into someone eyes.

I know its late on the thread, but I've been lurking around like mad researching this projector. figured i'd toss in my two cents to finally join the forum.

micro projectors review didn't have many good things to say about it, other than that its a toy.

I can't link... but micro-projector.com/?p=78 has a review and video.

I agree with OP, it is just that, a toy. I am a bit dissapointed in the marketing, since it says youc an hook it up to a bunch of different things...what it fails to tell is that the cables to do such are either expensive, or hard to find. So far, we have only been able to hook it up to a portable DVD player. But will continue to search for ways to hook it to an Ipod, Nintendo DS and the others...:sad2:

I picked up one at Costco for $22.97, so for that price, my son was glad for the portability. He has a $250 one that is very good, but it is not portable.

Bought one for christmas but returned it because it was such a poor picture. I could one make it go to about 18inch picture and even in a dark room, a very dim, grainy picture.

i am thinking of buying this to use at my dad's 60th bday party... i want to connect a dvd player and show a dvd slideshow of pictures of him...

if anyone has this, do you think it would work for this purpose? i am not sure how dark it will be in the room...

thanks!

I would stay away from the Eyeclops. I bought one for my little sister for Xmas, that projector was TERRIBLE. I think I saw it in January as the "worlds worst projector" by some internet store. I AGREE!

I couldn't afford a real home-theater projector, but I ended up getting this one:

AAXA M1 Mini projector

It's only $299 and it's WAY better. The closes comparison I can think of is a candle flame to a flashlight - the eyeclops being a candle flame!

Here's some youtube videos so you guys can check it out yourself

Sorry I can't post links yet, but if yousearch on youtube you will find lots!

I did not try this projector but try another one, :3dglasses My mini projector for entertainment is okey. All projector should be used in low light, and for best viewing experience use the mini projector in the dark. It is much much easier to carry the mini projector around considering and I can use it without a computer.
